A/N: I couldn't make you guys wait anymore. Here's chapter 1 please enjoy
Nia's pov:
I listened to music as my fingers flew across my keyboard with inspiration burning inside me making my fingers fly. It has been a few days since I last got the urge to write anything, I was happy to be writing again. I was so focused on writing and the music, I didn't hear footsteps until I saw a body walking towards me from my peripheral vision. A familiar warm body sat beside me on the couch, so as not to be too rude I tilted my head a bit towards the body which was a clear signal that said, 'you can take out my headphone so that we can talk a bit'. A finger brushed against my neck for a second that sent my heart beat throughout my body, then the ear piece fell out.
"I just finished this month's issue, want to ride with me to hand it in to my editor?", Cody asked me in his usual soft tone.
I kept eyes in the document that was filling up with words, as I said, "I just got hit with inspiration, I want to get this all out before it disappears, sorry".
"Aww come on, I'll get you candy on the way back, scout's honor", Cody said and lifted his hand in the air, it made me smile.
"Oh we're scouts now? I didn't get the memo", I said jokingly as I kept typing.
"Yeah, you missed it at the last meeting. There was also a fight, a small fire, some guy twirling a scarf, that was on fire and that happened when I was out getting pizza for everyone", Cody said, I could hear the smirk on his face.
I paused in my typing and turned to face him as I started to laugh then said sarcastically, "Sure that totally happened, scout boy".
I enjoyed the sound of his laughter for a few moments then leaned forward pressing a kiss on his lips, then said, "You be careful out there in the real world, all right? Everyone's not as friendly as us".
"Casting me out like that, Nia", Cody asked rhetorically with a smirk then made a show of shivering then said, "Oh that's cold".
"I'll make sure to warm you up when you get back", I said with a wink then turned back to my laptop, and continued to type away.
"Scout's honor?", Cody asked then he kissed me again, as he shrugged on his father's leather jacket.
"Scout's honor, I love you, Cody", I told him as I heard his footsteps get fainter as he headed for the door.
"I love you more, my Nia", He said as he left the house.
I was so sucked into my writing that I wasn't really paying attention to the time. The only indication of times is how it slowly got darker and darker outside. I heard the door open and three sets of footsteps walk in.
"Searc, how was your day?", Gannon's deep voice washed over me as I heard him walk over to my place on the couch.
"Productive actually, I got three chapters done", I said proudly as I stretched my arms above my head.
I heard Roger whistle as he placed a pizza box on the table in front of the couch, "That's awesome, I'll read over them tonight".
I heard the sound of Auden coming down the steps faster than usual. When did he even go upstairs? He walked into the living room with a worried expression on his face.
"Hey Nia, do you know where Cody is?", He asked me his worried tone matching his expression perfectly.
"Umm, He went to see his editor, why?", I asked him with a slight tilt of my head as a bad feeling started in my stomach.
"Roger could you?", Auden started to ask but was cut off by, Roger already being on the phone asking about Cody.
I closed my laptop and put it down on the table next to the momentarily forgotten pizza. Roger got off the phone within a few minutes and said, "He was there with his editor, He left about an hour ago".
