I was sitting in my chair when I felt something wet and sticky grip onto the back of my ear. A spitball. I turned around and saw Eddie hiding a paper and straw behind himself. I gave him my evil eye and turned around to Lottie handing me a note. It read "Are you coming to the Fish Fry after church? You always come, but are you going to come again?" I replied with "Of course! I've never miss a Fish Fry, and I'm not about to start now" I passed it back, and watched as her face lit up as she tucked the note in her bible.

I looked up at the preacher, but I couldn't understand what he was saying. It was all gibberish. He turned his head to the front of the church and stopped talking, I turned around and looked back at the huge front doors as they swung open slowly. It was a family of three. A mother, father, and a little girl my age, with shiny, golden hair. She had on a pink dress that went down to her ankles, a hot pink ribbon wrapped around her tight curls, and white 3-inch heels. She was hiding behind her mom, scanning the room.

The preacher welcomed them as they walked down the isle slowly, like a wedding. The little girl kept making eye contact with me, so I gave her my evil eye to make her stop. It worked. Eddie was staring, and Lottie kept hinting at me to make her one of our friends, but I don't think I want that. I'd need time to think about it, and 1 more hour in church wasn't enough. Even though I told Lottie I didn't like the girl, she walked up and introduced us anyway. I looked up at her, then at my shoes.

Lottie was being her cheerful and excited self, as always. But, she's most joyful when she's trying to make a new friend. Eddie was adjusting his cap as he walked over to join us. I looked at him annoyed, so he would know how I felt. I turned my head back over to Lottie. She told me her name was Melisa Gold, and she had just moved here from Detroit. I budged at Lottie about the Fish Fry. She sparked up and asked Melisa if she wanted to go to the Fish Fry with us.

Melisa smiled and skipped over to her mother to ask. I confronted Lottie about inviting her to come with us because that was our thing. Eddie even knew not to get in the way of that. She gave me a confused look and grinned. "What are you talking about? We can add Melisa, just like we added Eddie." She put her arm around me and faced in Eddie's direction. I smirked at her with agreement.

I had a plan to get rid of Melisa. I didn't want her ruining me and Lottie's friendship because I knew that's exactly what she would do if we let her get that chance, and I am not going to give her that chance. My plan was to gross Melisa out with preparing the fish, if it goes well, she won't wanna hang out with us ever again based on the gross stuff we do. Well-gross to her. Now, all I had to do was put it into action without anyone knowing this was planned, or that I was responsible for it.

I ran home and changed into an orange tang-top, and cut off shorts. I always go bare-foot to the Fish Fry. Anyway, when I got there I noticed Melisa wasn't there yet, so I decided to buy sometime. I walked inside the restaurant to see Lottie already gutting fish. I washed my hands and looked out the window. No Melisa. Yet. I asked Lottie what she needed me to do. "I don't know, you could help my mom hang up table cloths outside, and empty my gut bucket?" She told me not looking away from the knife.

As I gave Lottie back her bucket I heard a car pull into the parking lot. Melisa. She was wearing a neon blue silky dress that stopped 2-3 feet above her ankles, white flats, and a tiara in her hair. I looked over to see Lottie smiling very excited. I rolled my eyes and walked out back to start my plan. I watched as Lottie invited Melisa into the kitchen to explain everything. I helped Mrs. Hampton hang the cloths on the line, and rushed inside. Melisa had a jealous look on her face the entire time.

"Melisa, why don't you follow me out back." I told her real friendly like. We walked out and watched Mr.Hampton set up a table to fry fish. "See that?" I asked her. "Those are buckets and buckets of fish guts...and eyeballs...and blood..."I leaned in as I said this. Melisa looked at the buckets and.....puked on the steps we where standing at. I backed up before she could barf on me. Mr. Hampton sprayed the steps down with a garden hose as Mrs. Hampton drove Melisa home.

Lottie looked at me angrily. I put both my hands up and shrugged my shoulders making an innocent look on my face. Lottie confronted me as soon as I came inside. I told her it wasn't my fault that she barfed and that I had nothing to do with it. She took a deep breath, and continued cutting. I went back outside to help Mr. Hampton fry the fish.
