quickly scrolling through my notifications and showering, I was ready just in time for Jason's mom to pick me up for the first day of high school, which we both agreed would be a struggle, for me mostly.
-
jays mom left us at the steps to the big, brick building and we slowly climbed up to the main entrance. it was bizarre to not know anyone when your best friend knew practically everyone. jay was my lifeline for the year considering he's been living in town his whole life, and I just arrived two months ago.

the only reason I know him was from the camp we both worked at, and at the time I had a major crush on him. we started taking and it was great until he came out to me as gay. I'm glad we kept such a strong relationship for the time being but considering he's probably the most well known person in our grade, there's a possibility it might not last.

as we walked in, I was amazed at how many people noticed him and how good he is at capturing an entire rooms attention. there was a lot of time before our English period started, one of the 4 that we shared each day. we also had math, social studies, and lunch.
-
the bell rang and we started making our way to room 201, which I had no idea how to find, but jay seemed to know how to work his way around the entire school. we got to English just in time for our teacher to give us his first day speech. syllabus, course description, grading, the usual. the one thing I looked forward to was reading one of my all time favorite Shakespearean pieces, Romeo and Juliet, which we later learned we would be doing a production of for the class.

as me and jay parted after English, I barley had time to find my art class. the teacher, Mrs. Piscatella, was probably one of the most down to earth people I've ever met. her one thing was that she forced us into seats by last name for some weird reason, not that I had a problem with it. I ended up sitting at a table with 2 other girls. one of the girls name was faith, she had long blonde hair with deep green eyes. the only thing I remembered about the other girl is that her name was izzy, at least that's what everyone calls her. they weren't too bad compared to the emo kids at the next table down.

next was social studies, luckily with jay. we got the same lecture we've been getting the whole day to the point where I was on my phone for most of my period looking through notifications, until at the top of my screen, a notification for Instagram had told me that someone had requested to follow me. as I check the most recent name in my requests quiche, Collin Daniels, I had a moment of déjà vu, knowing the name but not being able to put a face to it. after social studies the whole day just blurred together until the bell signaling we could leave rang.
