After Hermione showed us the plaque, we all started up towards the common room, still shell shocked about the fact that I was taking after the father that I had never know by becoming a seeker for Gryffindor. "I'm telling you, it's spooky. She knows more about you both than you do."
"Who doesn't?" Harry pointed out as we followed her up the stairs, before having to grab the railings as it started to move. "What's happening?"
"The staircases change, remember?" Hermione hissed as I tried not to fall over.
Then it stopped, in a new place. "Let's go this way."
Harry looked slightly sick and nervous, but Ron was just annoyed. "Before the staircase moves again"
We all walked into an open door, to a dark, spooky corridor. "Does anyone feel like...we shouldn't be here?" I asked softly, my hand over my scar as it prickled, making me feel sick.
"We're not supposed to be here." Hermione pointed out as I didn't go too far in. "This is the 3rd floor. It's forbidden."
Suddenly, a flame lit itself on a tall stone support, and we jumped. "Let's go." My twin told us, suddenly more brave than he had been all of 30 seconds ago.
Before there was a meow behind us and we stared in horror at Mrs Norris. "It's Filch's cat!"
"Run!" We dashed for the end, more flames lighting as we went, and Harry tried to open the far door. "It's locked!"
"That's it, we're done for!"
"Oh, move over!" My friend rolled her eyes, pushing through the boys as I shivered in nervous fear. "Alohomora." Then the door opened. "Get in."
We bustled inside, and I hid behind my brother as they closed the door again. "Alohomora?" Ron questioned.
Did you not read? "Standard book of spells, Chapter 7." I muttered, still holding my arm.
There was a pause as we stayed still, hoping that we wouldn't be seen by the caretaker. "Filch is gone." My friend muttered after a moment, and Harry gave my hand a squeeze.
"Probably thinks this door's locked."
Ron, seriously? "It was locked."
Oh... "And for good reason." Harry and I whispered, seeing the massive Cerberus dog behind us, complete with three heads.before my eyes went into that sharp focus again, showing it was lying on a trap door. And it was waking up, noticing us.
After screaming, we tried to bolt out of the door, battling against one of the heads for it to close, before running back to the common room breathlessly. "What do they think they're doing?? Keeping a thing like that locked up in a school."
"You don't use your eyes, do you?" I asked him softly, my arm still prickling. "Didn't you see what it was standing on?"
"I wasn't looking at its feet! I was a bit preoccupied with its heads. Or maybe you didn't notice, there were three!"
Next we went up the stairs towards the dorms. "It was standing on a trap door. Which means it wasn't there by accident. It's guarding something."
My brother frowned at me as we reached the top of the stairs. "Guarding something? Poppy, what do you mean?"
"It was lying on something. I saw it."
Hermione nodded. "That's right. Now, if you two don't mind, we're going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed...or worse, expelled!"
And then he pulled me with her into our dorm and went right to bed, leaving me to look at my arm in confusion. I'd never felt it like this before, normally it only happened when he was with Dudley, fighting him slightly, and what little bravery I had seemed to disappear.
