"Matty, the mall is closed."
I tugged and chewed on my hair as I searched around us for a mall cop, a worker, a manager, anyone. It felt like I was in a horror movie, or a horribly realistic nightmare.
Matty pulled my fingers away from my hair with a worried look.
"Don't do that to your pretty hair."
I threw his hands away from me. "Matty, does it look like I care? We're freaking stuck in a closed shopping mall with no other people!" I shrieked, standing up to grab my purse.
Matty shrugged.
"Hey, it could be worse. at least we're together."
I shoved him away from me. "Matty, this is all your fault! If you hadn't waltzed over here with your hot face and sparkly eyes-"
"-wait, you think I'm hot?" Matty smirked.
I pushed him away from me again and turned to leave as I picked up my bag from my chair, but ended up turning into him. He caught me before I could fall, and I didn't even know what he was doing when he pulled me into him and pressed his soft lips against mine. A warm and excited chill snaked down my spine as I kissed him back, enveloped in confusion and curiosity. He wrapped his tough hands around my waist and i rested mine in his thick hair.
It had been a while before I forgot that I was holding my lilac handbag and it crashed to the ground, sending its contents spilling across the cafeteria floor. Matty released me and quickly bent down to help me retrieve my things. I regretted dropping my bag as soon as I remembered the spray paint bottles, and the toilet paper, and the eggs. I reached over to snatch my belongings away from Matty. He had a quizzical look on his face as he lifted up a bottle and studied it. "Why do you have these?"
I sighed and gave up trying to hide the rest of my things. "Well... you see..." I searched for the right words to give him. I felt so humiliated, so embarassed with myself for talking to this guy in the first place. Finally, I decided to confess.
