I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER; THE FABULOUS JK ROWLING DOES

Three loud knocks on her bedroom door and someone shouting her name unapologetically tore the young girl from her sweet slumber. She forced her eyes open and blankly stared at the ceiling; most likely occupying herself with various plots on how to kill her brother, instead of leaving her warm covers to get changed on that September 1st. When no sound came from her room the door yet again became the victim to abuse.

Alexandria let out a loud groan in response and when she was satisfied her brother had left she forced herself to leave her bed. Stretching her arms above her head as she stood up wearily, the teenager made her way to the small bathroom directly opposite her bedroom (from which she had been cruelly torn away from). Without taking a single glance towards the slanted mirror, propped up against the wall in a careless sort of way, she discarded her nightwear and stepped into the compact shower which was a little less spacious then preferred. After quickly washing and changing, Alexandria found herself looking at her reflection in the mirror.

The first word anybody would use to describe Alex was average. Just average. She was a little under average height, a little over average weight but apart from that she was simply just average. She had an average name- a name any wizard or witch wouldn't expect a descendant from a famous pure blood family would have (not that a lot of people knew of that). Nobody ever looked at Alex twice. She wasn't model - like tall, or stunningly beautiful and leggy and she certainly wasn't as interesting or as charismatic or as popular as other girls. She was just average. She was just Alex.

And she hated it.

She blinked quickly, pushing her thoughts to the side, and robotically started applying her makeup until she started looking a little bit more than average.

"Here she is!"

Alex looked up and glared at her eldest brother, Tyler, who just chuckled and winked at his younger sister.

"If you were so bothered about me sleeping in, why didn't you wake me up earlier?" Alex snapped, her clear hate of waking up early showing evidently. "And where's Ace?"

Tyler's cheeky smile dropped slightly.

"You don't want to be late for your first day back at Hogwarts, do you? You'll be starting your OWL's soon," Tyler said softly and Alex mentally cursed him for being able to switch her mood almost instantly. "And Merlin knows where Jason is."

Jason, or Ace, was Alex's other brother. He was going into 6th year, the year above her, and Tyler was starting his final year.

As Alex rolled her plain, brown eyes, her sixteen year old brother had snuck up behind her and ruffled her curly hair.

"Your hair looks crap," Ace had said, before walking past her to get a glass of water from the tap.

"Thanks to you!" Alex spat and Ace turned around momentarily, tilting his head to the side as if he was thinking. Then he straightened up and said, "no, it was crap before."

"Oh piss off!" Alex snapped and Tyler whipped his head round to shoot her a look she knew far too well.

"Language, young lady!"

Ace just threw his head back and laughed at his younger sister.

"Somebody's PMS'ing."

Alex's and Tyler's mouths both fell open and Alex grabbed Ace's glass - which he had put down on the counter - and poured the cold water over him.

"Alex!" Tyler scolded, though nobody could deny the smirk he was trying - and failing - to hide at the sight of his younger brother.

"You bitch!" Jason cried. "I just did my hair!"

Alex's mischievous smile dropped at the look on her brother's face. Jason could usually take a joke better than anybody she knew; she had always admired him for it - something must have happened. Jason's gaze flattened for only a second before he smiled a smile that didn't reach his eyes as he told his younger sister to 'run'.

Alex, wide eyed and laughing, stepped back from him and ran out of the kitchen and through the hallway - closely followed by Ace. They both laughed as his strong arms wrapped around her and as he threw her over his shoulder and paraded back towards Tyler in the kitchen, who just shook his head at his delusional family.

"Hurry up you two and eat your breakfast," he said as he set down a plate with three pieces of slightly burnt, buttered toast on the table. "We have to get to King's Cross."

-

Alex squeezed both her brothers' hands as she felt the all too familiar pulling sensation; the one she despised. The siblings appeared on the platform with a loud 'pop' and Alex stumbled backwards, bringing her hand to her banging head.

"I'm never going to get used to that," She said with a groan and glared as her brothers laughed.

Alex looked around the platform which was full of bustling wizards and witches - varying in ages from young first years to elderly grandparents saying goodbye to their grandchildren as they boarded the train. In the midst of all the teary goodbyes and laughing friends reunited after six weeks of Summer, Alex glimpsed a hint of long, red hair.

She smiled and started making her way towards her best friend before she was pulled back by Tyler.

"I hope you don't think you're getting away without a hug, love."

Alex threw her head back and sighed in annoyance as she was first pulled into Ace's chest and then Tyler's embrace as he kissed the top of her forehead.

"See you at school, you loser," Ace said, ruffling her hair, before running over to a group of his friends.

Alex finally escaped Tyler's lecture about studying and exams and boys and parties and everything else under the sun and she pulled her trunk with her towards the train.

AN/ So this is my very first fanfiction I've posted on here and the first Harry Potter fanfiction I've written. I'm definitely not claiming to be a writer so please if you have any constructive criticism comment and help me out! I'm sorry if Alex seems Mary Sue - it's quite hard to describe her in so much detail in the first chapter and I know everybody says it but the chapters do get better! Thank you - J x the
