"LINA!!!!!! WAKE UPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!"
I awoke with a start to see my annoying little sister standing in the doorway. She had the most annoying sing-song voice ever!
"WHAT DO YOU WANT!!!!!!" I shouted back.
"I wanted to see if you would be mad if I woke you up?" She said looking at me with her puppy eyes. I hated when she did that. No one and I mean no one can resist her puppy dog eyes.
"What did you think I would wake up and say, ' Wow Sarah, I am sooooo glad that you woke me up!!! Thank you'"
"Maybe" she mumbled looking smaller and more fragile than a porcelain doll.
My shoulders sagged and I suddenly felt bad. " I am sorry. I didn't me to hurt your feelings."
She padded over next to me and plopped down on the bed.
"Thats alright Lina." she said back to her regular bouncy self "I am sorry for waking you up,"
I patted the curls on her little blond head. " Let's go downstairs and get some breakfast. I will ask the cook to make pancakes w-"
Before I even finished my sentence she had already jumped off the bed, began squealing and running out of the room.
"Okay!" she practically screamed on her way out the door "Make sure you ask him to add chocolate chips!" she called as she bounced down the stairs.
"Love you too, Sis," I said as I slinked away into my bathroom. I pulled out a drawer and reached for the brush.
When I finished raking it through my knotty hair, I finished I walked in front of the mirror. Looking at my reflection, I studied my self. I had long honey blonde hair, and icy blue eyes.
"Geez I need to spend some time in the sun!" I thought when I looked at my pale skin. "MEH"
I left my bathroom and started down the long spiraling staircase of our modern mansion.
"LINAAA!" Sarah screamed, "HURRY UP! I AM STARVING!!!!!!"
"I AM COMING!!!!!!!" I hollered "Geez can a girl get ANY peace and quiet" I muttered
"WHAT DID YOU SAY???" Sarah shouted from downstairs
"NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!" I groaned about to explode.
Little sisters could be so annoying!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I waltzed downstairs ready for breakfast, then I remembered the cook had the day off so I had to make it.
Groaning, I set to work beginning to making the batter. I hummed a little as I worked looking occasionally out the window at the woods behind our house. Ever since I was little I had been afraid of those woods. My fear heightened about 4 years ago when my father had gone into the woods and never came back. Tears bit behind my eyes threatening to fall. I remembered my father and how close we had been. I remembered how he had always smelled of sandalwood and vanilla. I remembered the night he ran into the woods. I remembered the nights following when I would sit in the corner and wish for him to come back. For years after he disappeared I hoped and prayed that he would come back. He never did. However; Sarah had gradually become more and more important.
Sarah was the little beam of hope. She was the only light in the dark room of depression I had been trapped in.
"Hey Lina, are the pancakes ready?" Sarah questioned, bouncing into the kitchen
I wiped the tears from my eyes and looked down. I was surprised. I had subconsciously made the pancake batter! Well, at least I wouldn't get yelled at by Sarah.
Sarah peered over my shoulder. "HEYY... You forgot the chocolate chips!" She complained with a disappointed glare. Nope I guess that's inevitable.
"I am sorry Sarah I was a little preoccupied," I said with a sigh as I reached for the chocolate chips.
"It's okay!" Sarah said, before grabbing the chocolate chips and dumping them in herself. I looked down and realized she had just dumped the ENTIRE bag of chocolate chips into the mixture and was now stirring furiously.
She stirred until the "batter" had become a thick brown paste.
"Perfect!" she said with a triumphant look.
I held back a sigh as I went and got a pan from the cupboard. As I turned to light the stove I noticed that Sarah AND the bowl were gone. This time I didn't hesitate to sigh
I ran up the stairs into Sarah's room. I looked around the pale blue room. Seeing no traces of Sarah I ran back down the stairs.
"SARAH! WHERE ARE YOU!" I shouted
"SARAH'S NOT HERE RIGHT. NOW PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE AFTER THE BEEP. THANKS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!" Sarah playfully yelled back.
Suddenly I had an idea. "MARCO!" I bellowed my voice cracking
"POLO!" Sarah screamed back.
I began walking towards the door to the basement - since that was where her voice was the loudest.
"MARCO!" I yelled for a final time before charging down the stairs.
"POLO!" I heard her squeal a before she came into my line of vision.
I saw her curled up on the couch, chocolate covering her face. The bowl only half full.
"SARAH! WHY DID YOU EAT THE BATTER!!" I exclaimed my stomach roaring. I seized the bowl, and quickly darted away rushing up the stairs to the first floor.
"Hey! Wait! I am still hungry!" Sarah called.
"IT MIGHT FILL YOU UP MORE IF YOU COOKED IT FIRST!" I yelled as I dumped the remainder of the so called batter into the pan. It cooked quickly and was soon a some-what good looking lump.
-----------SKIPPING LE COOKING PROCESS----------
"Sarah, breakfast!" I called. She bounded down the steps into the bright, sunny kitchen.
"Great! I'm STARVING!"
I groaned in annoyance and dropped all if the "pancakes" on her plate.
