I would search for love, anywhere. I was searching wherever I could. Hopeless romantic right? But no matter how much I was searching for love, I never tried to rush it. Always looking for a friend first and seeing where it would go from there. At least if it didn't work out, some form of friendship was there. And no matter where I would search, I wouldn't dare to try to find someone in a public place and try to flirt with them. Self confidence was riding on a low here. But since I was such a computer geek back then, until now, I decided.. "Why not just use those dating apps?" What did I have to lose right? Other than getting catfished, but I was getting good from distinguishing the people online from those who are real and those who are posers.

It all started on Skout. There's a MEET button. From there you can search with different filters. Of course I'm trying to search for the perfect guy for me. I know..a girl can dream ya know? But here I was, lying in my bed, searching for a guy who was between the ages of 19 and 25, Asian and/or Pacific Islander, and lived within 75 miles of my zip code. Totally thinking this app was bogus, because majority of the guys that were popping up were still in Asia, like Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. But I saw a handful of guys that lived around my area. Clicking on their profiles, reading their bios (yes I actually do that), some seemed interesting. After checking out 4 guys' profiles, I stumbled across his.

20. Filipino. US Marine. Just so happened to be assigned to the marine base near me, even if it was an hour and a half away. I read his short bio, looked through his pictures, and...he was pretty cute. I didn't bother messaging him. From the look on his profile, it seems like he didn't update much and for all I know, I wouldn't know how long ago online he was. I left it like that and called it a day for the app.

The next day, I got a notification on my cellphone from Skout.

"Matthew checked you out!" What the fuck? It's the marine..

So here comes that big grin of joy, a little bit of fan girling, but a huuuuge grin. I obviously checked his profile, but got another notification. It was a message.

Hey!

And so it began. I never imaged we'd hit it off right away. You know those types of conversations where everything just flows? As if we had the right words and topics to say. I was so intrigued. I was soooo into this guy. I didn't fall just yet. But 2 weeks rolled by. I remember this day as if it was yesterday..

It was Sunday morning and I was coming home from church with my parents. Me and my dad were just arguing over school. It just wasn't the right topic at the right time. I went to my room and just stood there thinking "What the hell do I do now.." I changed, got in my car and just started driving. I didn't know where I was going but I was stressing out too much. There was no way I'm going into work like this, so I called my manager. Luckily I confine in her, and this wasn't the first time I called crying. She let me have the day off and I'm still sitting in my car, in a empty parking lot. I start messaging all my friends, seeing if they're awake and wanted to hangout somewhere. I didn't care if I ended up in San Diego or in LA, I wanted out. No one was awake, I mean c'mon it's 10am on a Sunday morning. But he texted me..

It was our regular "hi", "hello, goodmorning" texts. I asked him his plans for the day and he was gonna hang with one of his buds in the afternoon. I'm thinking, "Well..it's still morning. Maybe he's down to meetup?", so I asked him. He was down to meet me in the Morongo parking deck after he gets ready. I'm like okay..cool. As soon as I just start driving around, my heart starts beating fast. The stoplight turned red, and I just stare blankly. "Am I really meeting up with him right now? Oh shit, it's our first time though."

TO BE CONTINUED (bit by bit guys lol, im getting there)
