I stopped walking as I stood there, few inches from him. “Your Mom called.”

“Oh yeah? What did she say?” He asked, busy with the dishes.

I crossed my arms in front of my chest, watching him doing the dishes. I smiled. “You know you’re cute sometimes, right?”

“Don’t change the topic, Kathleen.” He said with his serious tone.

I laughed slowly. Soon, my laughter filled the silence in the room. “Alright. She asked me if you could stay here or not. And, she said that she loves you.”

“Huh?” He replied, washing his hands.

“Oh, your father will leave for business trip in two days. She said that you can go home when he leaves.” I informed him.

He smiled. “Okay. Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.” I replied, grinning. “Come on.”

We started to walk to the table as I heard him saying. “You said I’m cute, huh?”

I looked back over my shoulder to find him grinning from ear to ear. “I think you didn’t hear it right. I’ve lied.”

Of course, it wasn’t a lie. He was so cute back then, when he did the dishes. He was like a gentle man. And, that was why I loved him more and more.

He pouted. “That’s mean.”

“That is.” I nodded, agreeing with him. “Help me clean the table, will you?”

Then, as we reached the table, I started to clean the table from dirty dishes. I picked them all and brought them to the dishwasher. Then, I walked back to the table, bringing a cloth, and started to clean it. He just sat there, watching me in silence.

I didn’t know what he felt towards me. I hoped it was love.

His eyes never left me as I quickly finished my job. After I finished, I glanced down to the table which now was clean. I smiled, being proud to myself. I knew a little thing would make me proud to myself.

He still watched me as I looked at him back. “I’m gorgeous, huh? Take a picture. It’ll last longer.”

He raised an eyebrow, annoyed. “Really?”

I chuckled as I reached out my hand for him. “Come on, little boy. I want to watch the film now.”

He stood up immediately and took my hand in his. Then, we walked to the living room together. Hand in hand. Close enough. I didn’t know, well, it did make my heart crash in my chest. But, I hid it very well. I gulped as he squeezed my hand. Didn’t he know he already made me hold my breaths?

I glanced at our hands and shrugged carelessly. This feeling shouldn’t be nothing more than best friends felt towards each other. It should be so obvious for me. Well, it didn’t.
