I once again approach the circus
Music plays loudly for all to hear
"Welcome, welcome, welcome to the circus of the lost"
"Do not falter as you walk"
"Beasts roam the darkness uncontrolled "
"We aim to bring relief and serenity "
"So come,come,come on"
"Contentment you shall find"
I start to silently move through the crowd
Fog dances along each darkened tent
I enter the first one I come upon
I look on in horror as a women is hung from the ceiling
The crowd throws rocks
As silent tears stream down her face
All that can be heard is their malicious laughter
I cannot be witness to her pain, so I move on
In the next tent a man stands in the middle of the stage
He yields a jagged dagger
It comes down upon his long ago scared chest
Words appear through the oozing blood
Envy
Vanity
Hatred
Guilt
Lust
His haunted eyes called to me as I watched
I could not bear his gaze
I try to tread softly on the earth as I walked on
The last tent stands before me covered in an eerie green glow
The curtains slowly open
There stands the doll
Strings are attached to her arms and legs
The fog moves around her lovingly
The doll begans to dance and sing
"Welcome to the tent of the judgmental "
"You are holy"
"You are lovely"
"You may now look upon the cracked porcelain face of the damned "
"Cast off your venomous words "
"Swing,swing, swing thy fists "
"Each blow releases your burden "
She reprised the song on and on never ending
Until the sun began to peek through the open window
The curtains slowly started to come together
The crowd moved on satisfied
I stayed behind hoping for a glance
Sunlight peeks through the curtians
The puppeteer is at last revealed
She is so sincere and utterly lovely
She gently hangs the doll from a hook
Then she slowly walks over and stops inches from me
"She whispers until we meet again my heart"
I walk to the stage and look upon the doll
All I see is my cracked white face
It was then that I began to weep hysterically
All that could be heard on the wind is
"Welcome, welcome, welcome to the circus of the lonely
