Trust Me

"Jaehwan, if you trust me, you'll tell me. Who were you talking with on the phone just now?" He asked me.

"Wonshik, please. This is a conversation when it's just the 2 of us at my house. If Hakyeon is here, I can't talk. And one other thing, he likes me."

"I'LL KILL HIM." He almost reached for the doorknob and was about to turn it, but I hugged him from behind.

"Wonshik, don't. He's my friend."

"I- Alright. But you have to promise to tell me about that phone call."

"If Hakyeon falls asleep and we are both awake, I'll tell you." I stopped hugging him and smiled.

"Alright. Let's go back in your room."

"Wait. Don't mention a thing to Hakyeon yet, I still haven't told him."

"Oh gawd Jaehwan... Fine." He opened the door and Hakyeon was fast asleep on my beanbag chair. He had changed into his pyjamas and stole a blanket from my bed. There he was, fast asleep. Should I wake him up, or just leave him sleeping?

"Wonshik, do we wake him?"

"He seems pretty fast asleep and it's like he already brushed his teeth and whatnot. Don't wake him, he'll be fine."

"Okay?" I responded confused.

"Well, he's asleep. You want to tell me about the phone call?"

"Fine Wonshik... But go change in your pyjamas and brush your teeth. After we talk I'm going to sleep."

He grabbed his clothes and toothbrush from his bag and was headed to the washroom, when he suddenly stopped walking for a second. He turned his body and said to me,

"Where will I be sleeping?"

"Umm.. I have no idea actually. The other beanbag?" Since I had 2 beanbags in my room, I figured if Hakyeon is asleep on one of them, Wonshik could sleep on the other one.

"I'm sleeping with you Jaehwan." He said to me.

"WHAT? No you aren't.." I thought he was just joking around, but no.

"Who said I was joking?"

"Oh gawd.... But you can't! He'll find out!!"

"Fine then. We can sleep side-by-side on the floor instead."

"Actually, that can be arranged. Go change!" I pushed him into the washroom and he closed the door behind him.

Then I pulled most of the blankets off my bed and onto the floor. Yes it was a bit unsanitary, but my floor is super clean and it's just for tonight.

After Jaehwan and Wonshik changed into their pyjamas...

"Nice pyjamas!" He said to me.

I was just wearing blue pyjamas pants with yellow ducks and a white tshirt, but he liked if apparently.

"Gee... Thanks?" I didn't know whether to take it as a compliment or an insult.

"Come on, let's lie down on the floor."

I took a couple pillows and threw them on the blankets we were going to sleep on top of. Then we both got down and laid on the hard-ish surface.

"Do you want a blanket Wonshik?" I asked him.

"Sure." I got up and quickly grabbed a thin blanket, then laid back down again and out the blanket over us. "We have no school tomorrow right?"

"Yeah we do... But I'm skipping tomorrow. You want to hang out?" He asked me.

"Sure, just us?"

"Okay. That can be arranged." He agreed. "So the phone call?"

"Right..." I started saying. "You may end up hating me or you may think I'm crazy..."

"You know I wouldn't do that. Come on, I'm not one to judge people." He told me.

"Well, I can see spirits."

He was silent at first, then said, "You mean like ghosts?"

"No, they're spirits."

"O-oh... Okay?" Of course he sounded confused, but this was the truth.

"Wonshik, now what I'm about to tell you, you have to promise not to react weirdly or anything."

"Alright Jaehwan, just tell me."

"I have to text someone first."

I grabbed my phone and started texting Taekwoon.

Me: Taekwoon? U here?

Taekwoon: yeah, wassup?

Me: idk if u can do this, but can u get to my house like right now? 🙏🏻

Taekwoon: it'll take me like 5 mins, but yeah. Don't ask tho

Me: ur always so mysterious, so I just gave up asking u questions anymore 🙄🙄🙄

Taekwoon: aight, I'll b there.

I turned my phone off and faced Wonshik again.

"Ready to tell me now?"

"Yeah Wonshik, you have to know the truth."
