*Violet's POV*The red color of the doll's magnificent dress was still sparkling like blood in my hands. A minute passed, still arguing with my hollow thoughts, I put my hand inside the big box and pulled out a bunny. It was not the fat kind, it was slim. Perfect for my doll. As my smile gradually turned into a serious face expression, I realized it was what he used to say to me. It was his bunny after all. His words began hovering in my mind. Your doll and my bunny, perfect together, just like us.
I couldn't help but cry at the thought.Over the past 16 years, he and I'd been pretty close. He was a month older than me, same age. Always there for each other through our thick and thins. His problems were mine, and I know he couldn't see me in pain either. He would even go as far as killing someone to get the smile he loved the most on my thin lips back. And I was glad to have him in my life. We went to the same school, took part in that stupid operas - which he hated the most but took part cause of me since we were not allowed to come without a partner - and that crazy fish hunt, in which I nearly drowned, but he was there to save me.
My best friend, Jake.
I was imagining the thoughts cause obviously after him gone, I would have these precious memories only to remember him. But deep down I knew that I won't be able to hold my sorrow back much longer, and eventually the pain inside me will shred my soul into pieces where it won't be found ever.
"Violet? Honey? Are you still in the attic? Get ready, Jake's flight is today at 4 pm. And it's already 11 he will leave at 2. Come down and finish your breakfast." My mom's voice broke through the compulsion of my entangled thoughts.
How can I forget that? Darn it, I'd to go, get that the thing I ordered for him. A gift for him, tremendous walk through our memory lane, throughout our wonderful childhood. I was damn sure he would love it.
I quickly went down, ate breakfast and went to talk to mom.
"Mom? You in there?" I asked opening the door to her room.
"Yeah, I'm here. What happened?" My Mom asked.
"Mom I'd to go get that frame I personally designed for Jake, the one I told you about? The order just got ready, I'll be back in a while, just don't panic." I passed a playful smile until she nodded and I made my way to the front door.
I took the raincoat, and zipped myself up before stepping onto the front Porsch.
The sun was hiding behind the clouds, rain dripping down steadily, the sky was dark, only a pale yellow light lighting up the sky was coming through the sun.
The past week had been a blur. Everything was going well until one day at school, Jake told me his parents were shifting to New York for some personal reasons. I hated that he was. I didn't want him away from me. It wasn't just a city or a country migration. It was a whole ass continent and we would be at two different corners of the world. Amsterdam. New York.
Still tangled in my thoughts, I made my way through the almost deserted streets till I reached the shop.
"Good morning Mr Joseph, I got your call." I greeted the shopkeeper and hungrily looked up to him for my package.
"Hello, so you're here, lemme give you your frame." And with that he disappeared into darkness in the room behind him.
He returned after two whole minutes passed. He was holding a middle sized square frame. It looked awesome.
The moment he switched the front of the frame to me, I couldn't help but gaze at its impeccability.
