Becca

"Becca!" I see Becks waving through the doors leading to the ballroom. "We're about to start!" She mouths the words. We've found we hardly have to talk to each other anymore these days. We can keep up a conversation entirely through facial expressions. I grab my jazz shoes, the shoes closest to me at the moment, and then quickly run into the ballroom. I find Becks, who is standing with Connor, Tyler, Joe, Blair, and Zach. I walk up to the group and say my hellos quietly as the teacher begins speaking. I see Conner shift his way closer to Blair in order to give me room to stand next to Becks. I always notice Connor finding a way to be closer to Blair; Becks and I believe he might have a crush on her. As the teacher has everyone find their places to begin the scene, I search the room for Joe, who always seems to disappear when we need to be ready. I see him across the room and beckon for him to hurry up. I must look annoyed because he comes rushing over as soon as he looks at me. "Wife!" He exclaims as he wraps his arm around my neck. I say nothing as I shove his arm off and slide my right arm through his left. He seems to get the hint as he starts directing our pretend children with what they need to remember to do. We begin the scene and everything is going quite well. Joe isn't talking too much and our kids are listening very well. We come to the waltz part and I prepare for my feet to be trampled. I look across the room at Becks who begins silently laughing at my face when we start dancing. Trying to annoy Joe, I begin mimicking him saying, "Act like you love me, act like you love me!" as we waltz around the room. "I am!" He defensively squeaks. "Not enough." I snarkily reply. Suddenly Joe's entire body swings towards mine. Before I realize what he is doing, my lips feel like fire. I feel his hand behind my neck as he pulls my face into his. As fast as it started, his face breaks away, and he is standing a foot away from me. My mind is blank. I can't think of anything, that is until I hear the whispering. Everyone in the room has witnessed what just happened, and are now standing and watching for my reaction. Feeling my face turn red hot, I do the only thing I can think of. Looking only at the ground, I take off running straight into the bathroom and lock myself in a stall.

Becks

I watched it all happen without really registering any of it. I remember looking at Becca, laughing about Joe's mediocre waltzing skills, and then facing Zach again as the flow of the waltz turned my back to Becca. A full revolution later I saw her again, and judging by her expression she was pretty annoyed with Joe. That's typical, though, so I was NOT expecting what came next. Joe mashed himself up against her, his mouth on hers. I was so shocked I actually froze. And as of now, I'm still frozen. "What the--" Zach trips over me. I push him away at the same time Joe steps back from Becca. The expression on her face is mainly confusion, but I see a hint of enjoyment. A whisper snakes around the room, and Becca's face goes blank for a moment, then horror spreads over it as she realizes that everyone saw what just happened. Her head snaps down so no one can see her horrified expression and she darts out of the room. I force myself to move, hissing at Blair to take my spot, then run after Becca. I head towards the dressing room, guessing that she's taken refuge in the bathroom. I almost trip over Charlotte and Amy as I shove the door open, and they quickly pull their legs out of the way. "Becks!" They say. "What happened?" Amy asks. "Becca just came through here and she looked--" I cut her off. "Yeah I know," I say. "Would you guys mind clearing out for a minute?" They exchange a look, then pick up their phones and go to continue their stretching elsewhere. I take a deep breath, then push open the bathroom door. "Becca?" My voice echoes slightly around the tiled bathroom. Nothing. "Becca. It's me. Do you want to talk?" I hear a sniff, and turn towards the sound. One of the doors creaks open slowly and Becca walks out. She's crying, but smiling at the same time. I sigh in relief. "So it was just embarrassing, not altogether unpleasant?" I ask. "Pretty much," she replies, then starts laughing. "The idiot!" she says through her laughter. I join in, and soon we're both laughing our heads off. It takes us a few minutes to pull ourselves back together. She washes her face off, then hiccups. "You okay now?" I ask. "I think so," she says. "Okay," I give her a hug, then check the clock. "There's only 5 minutes left in rehearsal. Do you want to just head home? I'll cover for you." "Thanks, Becks," she says. "I think if I see Joe right now I'm going to smack him, so yeah, I'm going home. See you on Monday." "Okay," I say again with a smile. "See you!"
