Thomas's POV:
When I awoke, there were lights everywhere. Blinding lights. I wanted to look away, but something stopped me.
That's when I realized I'd been strapped down, my head locked in place. The piercing light beaming down on me from above, I went to close my eyes but to no avail. I was too slow. A shadow had already peeked over at me, prying my eye open. A woman. Her eyes intimidating, more piercing than the light. Her stare stabbed into me.
She soon straightened up, "Pass me the scalpel".
Wait...
Pass her the WHAT ?!?! I didn't sign up for this shit?! No one told me having my body dissected was part of the contract! Honestly, where's my lawyer when I need him.
My body tensed, my face cringing, I was readying myself to accept death at this point when a stern, deep voice spoke, "Cutting open the kid? Is that really necessary Vivaldi?"
The woman's, Vivaldi, head snapped in their direction, "Who's the professional here?"
The other voice continued, "He just got here. Let him rest. Plus, you should see how his body works normally and reacts to certain things first. Strapping him here, especially keeping him awake in the process.. Allow him to sleep, eat. Then if you truly must slice him to bits, at least do it when he's in a better condition, and please.. Give him some anesthetic next time, how reckless you were being... Miss Professional ".
Vivaldi huffed, flicking off the light, she seemed disappointed, "Fine, fine. Have it your way. Get him out of my sight then, bring him to where he was ordered to be. We know the mutation isn't contagious, but they want him in quarantine, under strict supervision".
The voice added, "Meaning Marco".
She repeated, "Meaning Marco".
Whoever this person was that cut her off, no matter who they were, I didn't care. They were my guardian angel. The straps were ripped off and I felt a large hand slip under my back, helping me to sit up, "You alright kid? You're safe now, I won't let that woman harm you.. Well, I mean, Marco won't let that woman harm you, so the same applies to me.. Ah, don't worry about it. Just thinking aloud, here".
The man was fucking huge. Like, if a human and a skyscraper somehow managed to have intercourse and produce a child, this meaty mass of a being would be it. Seriously, what the fuck, how is this even possible?! He cut off my train of awe-inspiring thoughts with a burly laugh, "You're staring, kiddo. I know, my size is impressive. Almost inhuman".
I tried to agree, but the only thing that slipped out was a slight, "Euh.." That only made him chuckle more, helping me to stand, yet lifted a hand to stop me from leaving.
He turned, and that's when I saw on the back of his tank top, across his upper back, located where the last name of a professional sports player would be on their jersey, read, "Warrick".
Warrick continued, "See, she said the mutation wasn't contagious, but you're probably wondering how people catch the disease then in the first place. And that, is through blood". He took out a pack of bandages, "So for precaution, I'm gonna patch up every cut you have, even if it's the smallest scab, sound good?"
All my nerves seemed to go away. The man's warm aura was definitely comforting. I gave a nod, giving him permission.
---
After all that was said and done, I was lead to a white room, which was pretty barren. All it had was a bed pushed into the corner, the sheets completely blank white to match not just this room, but pretty much the entire building's color scheme. Though I do admit, it looked pretty comfortable, and when Warrick let me climb on it, it only confirmed my suspicions. In the other corner there was a fan in case I got hot, though when I turned it on, the thing was extremely noisy and the levels that were slow, medium and fast were actually extremely fast, spinning at the speed of light, and being blown into fucking oblivion.
