A/N: Sorry for not updating, I've been procrastinating for God's knows how long. Anyways here's da next chapter :)
I sat in a circle with the exact people I played my last game with. I remember a few names: Katy, Connor, Alice, Aiden, Riley and of course Jas.
"Flora, you go first seeming as you lost last time" I heard Connor mumble something under his breath and I shot a sharp glare at him, yeah you better shut up. "Okay" I scanned my long mental list of things I would love to do but haven't done yet "never have I ever been on a rollercoaster."
No one put up a finger and Connor looked at me and gave me a well doesn't your life suck smile. I flashed him the middle finger and scowled when he did it back, damn him. I looked across the circle again to see Connor was still staring at me, only this time his expression was softer.
Instead of going home after school I went to the park again, not surprised to find Connor already there. "Connor!" His head turned sharply to one side and a grin made its way on his face "hey Flora." I suddenly forgot how I got here, why I am here, why I am talking to Connor "about that list." His blue eyes sparkled with hope "I'm in." What the f*ck did you just do?
Connor:
Seriously, did I hear that right? I asked her again to make sure I did "Connor I said yes okay!" She said exasperated. I couldn't stop my smile, even better when she smiled too. "Well I know the first thing we can do" her brow furrowed when I carefully took her frail delicate hand, suddenly scared I was going to crush her bones. She didn't pull away, instead looked at me with a raised eyebrow "where are you taking me?"
"It's a surprise" she scowled but followed me anyway, her grip on my hand never faltering. We stopped about five minutes later in front of a brightly decorated vintage ice cream shop, conveniently named Scoop'd. "No way!" She breathed with excitement, her eyes wide with happiness. I laughed as her gaze wandered around the room, it is like she has never been to an ice cream shop before. Oh wait, she hasn't.
"Connor! Hi!" My cousin Jake came out and wrapped me in a tight hug "who's the pretty girl?" He raised an eyebrow and pointed to Flora who is chatting excitedly with Alexandra, my other cousin. "That's Flora, she's never tried chocolate ice cream so I had to take her here."
Flora beckoned me over "are these people really your cousins?" She asked in disbelief. I nodded "so therefore you can eat as much as you want, free of charge." She studied the endless row of flavours "can I have chocolate please?" Jake nodded and pulled out two giant waffle cones filled to the brim with velvety chocolate ice cream.
Flora grabbed hers and eagerly found us a seat near the back of the shop. I love chocolate ice cream, it's probably the best thing in the world, apart from romance of course. I tried to contain my happiness as a small groan escaped her mouth "it's so good!" kicked her gently under the table "told you so."
I don't normally like people but Flora was an exception, she's so strange I'm determined to find out her story. "Connor? Are you okay?" I smiled and finished the last of my ice cream "yeah just thinking I guess."
She stood up and began to fish around in her purse but I took it gently out of her hand "it's free remember?" She looked almost relived I wonder why. She waved goodbye to Alexandra and skipped out of the door, hair flying behind her. Stopping abruptly, she turned to face me "thanks for today, it was really nice" I shrugged "no problem."
Her gaze locked with mine "can I um have your number, I lost it" she held out her phone and I quickly typed in my number under Connor the awesome guy.
Returning her phone, I noticed that half her hand is a weird purple-blue colour and that her other hand is full of blisters and cuts. I averted my eyes when she looked up, not wanting to be caught staring "I better get going, my dad will be wondering where I am." She said quietly before pulling up her hood and sprinting off into the darkness.
I looked up at the sky "Father" I called into the nothingness "make sure she gets home safely."
A/N: sorry this chapter was so short (there will be a lot of these so sorry in advance) but I felt like I should leave it at that note. Poor Connor is already starting to like Flora *cri* he grew up so fast.
