Elizaveta sighed sadly, dropping her head into her hands. "Agh. It's so much harder to gossip about people when they have a story like that."
Gilbert patted Elizaveta's back. "He fell into a coma Alfred. They have no idea when he will come to again but..."
Alfred scooted to the edge of his seat. "But he's alive, right?"
"Yes, I said that. He's just in a coma." Gilbert sighed. Now he knew how Matthew felt....
"Then what was the 'but' about?" Alfred asked impatiently.
Elizaveta smacked his arm. Alfred complained. Gilbert and Antonio explained that Arthur wasn't likely to stay in the coma forever, from what they had gathered. The doctors were hoping it'd only be a few weeks, but it may be months.
It was then that Alfred decided that, despite what he knew Arthur would say, or, wouldn't.., he had to check up on Arthur. He was a hero, right?

After school, Alfred got in his red pickup truck and started driving. When he reached the turn that would lead him home when he turned left, he stopped for a moment. He knew that the other direction was the hospital. But Alfred knew Arthur wouldn't want him there, he knew. Arthur hated him. He still wasn't sure why, but it was true.
However, there was something nagging him in the back of his mind. He should go. Even if they weren't friends anymore, they used to be. And he had to make sure Arthur was okay, despite all that had happened to separate them.
So, he called his parents and told them he'd be a bit late, then turned right.

Walking into a hospital to see someone that you aren't related too, nor do you have someone who is related to them with you, isn't fun. And the small, peach-coloured rose bush he had bought on his way there.
It was hell trying to get the nursing assistants to listen to him. They kept going on about how they weren't really supposed to allow him to see someone that he wasn't related too. He kept complaining about how he was the patient's friend, and that the other would be angry to know that they wouldn't let Alfred through.
Finally, an older lady with short silver hair came over and told the two assistants to go do something or another before turning to Alfred. "Hello." She greeted in a strong Russian accent. "You look frustrated, dear. I'm sorry about them, they are still learning. What do you need help with?"
Alfred let out a sigh of relief. "I just want to visit my friend."
"Oh! Alright." She walked around to the computer and sat down, typing something before addressing him again. "What's his name?"
"Arthur Kirkland."
She typed some more before turning the screen towards Alfred. "This is him?" The image depicted a teenage boy with short and very choppy light blonde hair, large eyebrows, jade coloured eyes, and his smile a smirk at the camera. Alfred nodded. Yep, that was him alright.
"Well," The nurse began. "I am truly not supposed to allow you back there, considering his current state. However, because of the trouble you've gone through already, I'll allow you the five minutes remaining in visitor's hour, alright?"
Alfred nodded enthusiastically. The nurse stood up and started down a long hallway, Alfred following her closely. They got on an elevator and headed up several floors before they stopped in front of a door, Alfred's five minutes had dwindled down to two.
"He's right through there. I'll be waiting here to take you back down, okay?" Alfred nodded at the older woman's words before opening the door and entering.
The room was completely white, the only light was that of the setting sun, filtering in through the window. In the corner there was a lot of equipment that Alfred couldn't begin to guess what did, and a small desk with a couple of papers strewn across it with a chair. Then there was Arthur, laying on a bed with white sheets which were pulled up to his chest, his arms resting delicately by his sides with a small frown on his face. Several wires were attached to him in various places, his hands, head, arms, and his chest of what Alfred could see. There was a lamp above him, hanging low as if Arthur would be able to use it to read. As well as a small side table next to the bed, already covered with flowers of various types.
Alfred approached and moved some of the flowers over, placing his roses closest to Arthur. Turning and grabbing the chair he sat in it backwards, wondering what to do now.
What was someone supposed to do in this situation? "Uh.... Hey Arthur..." God, this was so stupid! He was talking to someone who couldn't even hear him. "It's... It's Alfred. Jones. If you remember me? If you can even hear me... I'm sorry for what happened to you.. I brought you some roses. Peach, because I know how you love them. You used to go on and on about them. And you called me chatty." Alfred laughed quietly. He glanced down at his watch. That was a short two minutes. "Well, uh, hey I gotta go. Visiting hours are up and all. Um, I guess I'll see you later? I mean, when you get better and come back to school of course.... Okay then, um, bye?" He muttered, exiting the room.
"Did all go well?" The nurse asked as he closed the door behind him.
"I guess? I'm not sure. It was awkward."
She laughed as she started to lead him back to the elevators. "It always is. Seeing someone you love in a state in which they are unresponsive can be hard. And visiting alone... well... You understand."
Alfred blushed lightly. Someone he loved? No no no no no. He didn't love Arthur. He just felt that he needed to check on him and now he'd be alright and he could go back to his life.
A/N: Ohh?~ Poor Alfie, denial is only a river in Egypt! In the next chapter, or the one after, there are going to be a lot of time skips, just a warning now. It'll be a while before Arthur wakes up (and yes, he is going to wake up. I'm not killing him) and I don't want to write every single day. ^^; That would take years, and I already don't update regularly.
Anywho, hope you enjoyed! I finally got inspiration again, so there may be another chapter out soon!! Although, I'm starting school tomorrow, so maybe not..... Wish me luck with that ;-;
Bye! ~AC
