"Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give."
– Eleanor Roosevelt

——

He sat there, chewing on his Granny Smith apple slowly. He sat by himself as he kept his head down and didn't dare to look at anybody. His unruly, curly hair shielded him from the stares and whispers from his peers. I watched him from my lunch table, studying his appearance. His worn and torn converse are dirty, and have holes placed on the sides where the rubber and fabric meet. His small frame covered by his largely fitted jumper, and his baggy trousers falling off his waist and barely held up with a worn down belt.

"Niall? Are you even listening to me mate?" Louis asked. I look away from the harsh looking kid and face Louis. "Yeah, course I am." He shakes his head and looks over to where I was staring.  "You've been staring at that kid for weeks now, what're you tryin' to do?" He asks.

"I haven't stared at him for weeks Lou," I roll my eyes. "But I have this weird feeling about him, I don't know." I mumble looking at him again.

The end of lunch bell rings, and I stand up going to go throw my trash away. I look up to see the boy I was watching earlier stand up and walk towards me. My heart stops for a second before I breathe in a deep breath. He walked up and threw his trash away. With his hair falling to the side of his head, I could see his face clearly. His slight stubble clear on his pale face, his thin chapped lips, his dull green eyes, his slightly bushy eyebrows raised, and his small blemishes running across his forehea- wait. My eyes travel back down to his, and I can see that he is clearly weirded out by my intense scan of his face. One of his eyebrows perched higher than the other as he looks at me. I nervously chuckle and walk away quickly. Louis sees me and laughs, "mate you freaked the kid out." I mumble a shut up and walk to our shared class. I get in my seat and look at the board in front of the class. Why did I do that? Who stares at someone like that!? I scared the helpless boy. My thoughts are interrupted as the teachers starts his lecture.

-

I yawn as I walk out of the last class of the day. Louis rushed out of the class when the bell rang, basically knocking over the teenagers trying to leave the classroom. They grumble softly, slightly being use to Louis' dramatic exits. I find myself walking towards his locker before I bump into a student. I fall over on my bum as his books fall out of his hands. I look up and see that it's the boy I was staring at during lunch. I stand up and lean down picking up his textbooks.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to run into you like that. I'm just trying to find my friend." He mumbles an 'it's okay' and grabs his book. He's about to walk away, but something tells me to stop him. I grab his wrist lightly turning him around, "wait." He looks at me with a questioning look. "My names Niall." I hold out my hand for him to shake. He looks at it and slowly moves his hand into mine. His hand is incredibly soft and is slightly larger than mine. "I'm Harry," he says quietly. I smile shyly and shake his hand. "Nice to meet you Harry, I'm sorry for smashing into you like that." He shrugs his shoulders, "no worries. And likewise." I let go of his hand, and once I let go he walks away. I watch him walk away and when I don't see him, I make my way towards Louis' locker.

Lou's feather-like hair is spotted once I walk into the next hall. I make my way towards him and lean against the locker beside his. "You got everything?" He nods and shuts his locker door. We walk towards the student parking lot, and I get in the driver side as Louis gets in the passenger side.

"Mine or yours?" I start the car and look at him. "Yours. Your house is better than mine. And all my sisters are home, and every time you come over my sisters will not leave us alone. Quit being attractive and stop trying to seduce them." I laugh loudly, "I don't 'seduce them', and I'm sorry I was born beautiful."

I drive to my house and use the garage door opener button to open it and pull in. Stepping out, I grab my bag and I close the garage door. I hear Louis slam his door shut and his huffs. He walks straight into my house, leaving the door open and I follow him in. I question where he went until I find him. His body is basically inside the refrigerator. "Excuse me." He gets out and looks at me with a sandwich hanging out of his mouth and his arms filled with cans of soda. I laugh at him and shut the door. "If you want to stay for dinner, you can. You know my mum won't care." I say and roll my eyes as he finishes the sandwich and opens the can of soda. "The schools food is rubbish." He takes a sip of his drink and looks at me. "You don't think I know that?" I laugh.

I get up after having a snack and walk up the stairs to my bedroom. I open the door and flop down onto my bed and groan. I hear Louis walk inside and close the door, "what's up buttercup?" I roll over on my back and look up at Louis. "Do you know a Harry?" He shakes his head no and looks at me questionably. "Why do you ask?"

Why I asked? I have no idea. "No reason," I brush it off. I don't know why I can't keep his forest eyes out of my head. They were just so enticing. He gives me the 'you lyin' and we both know it' look, and I sigh. "The kid that I've been staring at, his name is Harry." I bring my hands above my face and play with my fingers. Louis rolls next to me and moves my hand. "Why are you so entranced by him?" I shrug my shoulders and roll onto my side, Louis following my movements. "I don't know. I have this weird feeling about him. Not bad weird, but not a good weird either?" I look over at Louis and he's confused. I mean why wouldn't he be? I'm confused myself. Why do have a feeling about this boy? "I don't know, just forget it." I turn over and lay on my stomach. Louis softly runs his hand up and down my back, and I close my eyes. His gentle movements usually always makes me tired.

-

"Ni, wake up. Your mum finished supper, it's time to eat." I groan in my pillow and raise my head. Sitting up, I stretch my arms out and I follow Louis down the stairs.

"Hi mum, dad." I greet and sit down at one of the chairs placed at the table. "Hi honey, hi Louis. Are you staying the night tonight sweetie?" My mum smiles at him. "Hi Maura," he chuckles and nods his head.

After dinner, Louis and I made our way upstairs and back into my room. "Wanna play a game?" He asked. I nod my head and turn the telly on.

"You fookin losah," Lou grunted as he lost yet another round. I laugh and mock his accent. "Shut it Ni." He sighed. "I still can't see how you won."

"Because you're shit at playing." I laugh and put away the game and turn on Netflix. "I'm tired, I'm going to hit the hay." I say stretching. I get up and change into a pair of plaid pajama pants and lay down. "Ugh your boring," Lou said and took the remote. He turned on some show and laid on the bed. "Night mate," he said. I mumble a goodnight and fell asleep.
