Mat sat (it rhymes) down at his computer and stared endlessly at the screen. It's been like this for days, slowly becoming a normal habit. Yet sitting at a computer doing nothing was relaxing, and killed eyes if stared at long enough. Mat always found himself like this whenever he was at a loss or couldn't figure the simplest problem out. He often retreated to this during research for the theory's on his channel. The constant sifting through tons of work was tasking and very frustrating at times. As Mat stared away at the computer he heard a knock on the door. Struggling to wake up from his zombie-like state he stumbled to the door barely composing himself as he opened it. The figure in the doorway looked at the lanky figure in front of him and smiled.
"Seems like someone has definitely been resting." That voice... Oh shit. Fully awakened by shock Mat recognized the once blurry figure, it was Nate his best friend, the one who had always made sure he was functioning properly. Mat had been lying to him for the past week not wanting to communicate with the outside world much. Visitors was the last thing that Mat had on his mind.
Nate strutted around the apartment carefully taking in details of Mat's living conditions. He noticed the garbage lying around, and the lack of organization that the theorist persisted on daily. Games and sheets of paper were thrown in all directions even some under couch cushions. Nate looked around confused and worried for his friend, he wanted nothing bad to happen but he also didn't want to seem rude or bossy towards him. As Nate walked back to Mat he stepped on a picture, noticing it he picked it up and inspected it. He smiled as soon as he recognized what the picture was.
It was him and Mat sitting together playing horror games as they clung as close as possible. The picture was a perfect representation of what happened that night, and it was what Nate wanted deep down.... But he could never have that Mat would never think of them as a a couple. So as Nate pushed away the forming tears he felt a hand on his shoulder. The two slowly locked eyes, feeling each others pain in that moment. After a while it turned into a warm-affectionate hug, leaving both of them speechless. At one point Nate picked up Mat and sat on the couch, there where no words, just a long silence. The silence was peaceful and for once in a long while the world seemed to slow, worries and stresses faded away, leaving the two happily sitting together. Mat leaned into Nate's shoulder and after a while gently began to snore. Nate just looked at him, and decided it was time to go. He picked up Mat and brought him to his room tucking him in and closing the door. As he left he stared at the sky and thought out loud.
"What would I do without him?"
