Chapter 1

"I'm home dad!" I said, walking into the building of L/N Industries. And if you were wondering, yes, we own the entire building for just the two- well... Three of us.

My uncle says with us as well. In a flash, I'm thrown over someone's shoulder, being held upside down. I yelp and begin laughing.

"Hey Kiddo! How's school?" Uncle Ethan!

"Good! I don't know if it's the blood pooling to my head, but you seem to be in a good mood..." I say, still hanging.

He chuckles and brings me back over his shoulder, setting me down. He crosses his arms over his chest after ruffling my hair on the top of my head.

"Well, I'm glad you took notice! We're getting a big order from Mr.Saki tomorrow! It's for a mutant and he's willing to pay 10 mil! Can you believe it?!" He said jumping up and down like a little kid.

"That's amazing! I'm proud of you guys! Speaking of the plural... Where's dad at?" I asked, looking around as if he was watching us.

"He went out to get the mutant, he should be back later tonight!" Uncle Ethan said, still smiling like a dufus.

"Ok! Thank you!" I said.

"Say... Wanna help me set up the place the mutant will be staying?" Ethan asked.

"No thanks! It gives me the heebie-jeebies..." I said hugging myself.

"Understandable... See ya tonight! I think your dad wants you to see the mutant so you know... You can take over the business!" Uncle said, smiling.

I gulped as he laughed and ruffled my hair again,"Don't worry, you got a long way to go... It's not as bad as you think!" He left me there, standing alone in the lobby.

He went into the janitors closet as I grabbed my book bag and went into the elevator. I pressed the familiar button, 12, because that's the floor of all of our rooms.

The lab is on floor 15, so it's only 3 floors away. After the elevator opened, I walked 5 doors down to the room of my own.

As I walked in, I was with the same surroundings. Orange peachy walls, one gray and white striped carpet in the middle of the floor, and one other door that led to my bathroom in my room.

I sat my bag on the desk and went over to my nightstand and saw a familiar family of 3. Mom, dad... And me...

I rubbed my thumb gently over my mothers silhouette. I smiled as I felt the tears building up.

I quickly say the picture down and rubbed my eyes making sure no tears have escaped at the time. "Y/N you idiot... You're only doing this to yourself..." I mumble quietly.

I grabbed my F/C binder from my book bag and sat down at my desk. Scooting my seat in. "Let's get math, reading, and science done with.." I mumbled.

I have to admit... This was going to be hard. They're packets over 30 questions long each... Yayyy...

It had gotten pretty late and I was bored as heck. I had finished my homework, cleaned my room, made my bed, even cleared all the notifications on my phone.

I heard a knocking on my door, I went to open it and saw dad,"Hi dad!" I said giving him a hug.

"Hey sweetie..!" He said, smiling. "How was the hunt?" I asked. His expressions immediately from happy to 'OMG I FEEL SO ALIIVEEEE!'

"Good, no, GREAT! I actually got two of them!!" He said smiling. "That's awesome!" I said, eyes shining.

This was all before I knew what dad actually did with them... I was aware he traded them for money, but not what he did to them in the meantime...

It turned to nighttime, I was getting ready for bed, had a tshirt, sweat pants, and a high messy bun. I heard some noises from the outside of my window, and went to investigate.

As I went to my balcony, I heard some whispers,"I know this is where the truck went..." As I got a closer look at the figure, it shifted slowly into a turtle... Thing...

"Donnie, do you think this is some Kkrang or foot activity?" Another one?!

"I don't know but-" I cut him off with a scream, they both looked my way and froze.

"Miss, we won't hurt you-" I ran inside and down the hall way. No way in hell I was going to stand there and see what would happened to me next.

I ran up the emergency exit stairs and into the lab, by then I was out of breath. Uncle Ethan saw my condition and ran over to me,"Woah woah, calm down Y/N, what happened..."

"Ready... Balcony... Nighttime... MUTANTS!" I gasped at the last part from lack of air.

"It's fine... They probably followed the others here or something..." At Uncle's word I immediately froze up.

"T-they're here...?" I whispered. All he did was respond in a nod. "Wanna see them..?" He asked.

I held my stomach tightly, my heart beating fast enough from the work out up here. "C'mon, Y/N, it'll be fine, they're locked up..." Ethan said, smiling.

"M-Maybe tomorrow..." I whispered, barley able to hear.

"She's correct," Dad said, after he walked out of the elevator,"She doesn't have school tomorrow, but it's late, she should get rest..."

"Yes sir, ok Y/N... See you tomorrow!" Ethan said, walking into the shadows.

"Go to bed, I'll wake you up in the morning!" Dad said, winking and walking into the abyss as well.

Yeah, no way in hell... I ran to the elevator before it closed and went to floor 12. I went to my room and closed the door behind me. Shiz... I left the window open... I walked over and locked the window, shutting the blinds and curtains.

I literally jumped into bed after shutting off the light, and drifted off into the black abyss known as sleep.
