One of the worst things about high school is the homework. Especially because it is mostly time draining and soul destroying garbage. Instead of working out Pythagoras problems, I'd rather be writing. Typing anything that comes to mind. Sometimes that's the best way to go. Just pouring an endless stream of words onto a blank page until they have no meaning.

But , instead my mom was making me do math on a Friday evening. Most 18 year olds would be out celebrating their weekend of freedom, getting drunk. Whereas I wasn't even supposed to go near my phone until I had completed the work.

This was my punishment for falling slightly behind at school.

"Romy!" My moms strained voice echoed up the stairs, obviously trying to lure me into another painful task, possibly worse than maths.

"Yes?!" I had to repeat multiple times for her to actually hear me, and in the end just decided to stomp down the stairs.

"Did you not hear me calling you ?" She said, looking more stressed than usual.

I look around trying to bite a sarcastic remark back, obviously I had heard her which is why I had actually tackled the stairs and ventured from my cave.

"Sorry mom, what's up?" I tried to smile, hoping she wasn't about to spring a surprise trip to my grandmas on me.

My grandparents always favored josh. Which I didn't mind. I just didn't particularly feel like being left with all the chores for a weekend.

"Well, your brother impulsively decided that he would be coming home early. 3 weeks early!" She said, her voice reaching a new pitch all together.

" mom, chill it's all good. " I tried to calm her. I didn't see why him coming home from his tour was such a bad thing.

"Well Romy. He's also bringing Tyler. "

I looked confused at that. "I thought you liked Tyler" I pictured his dorky face and couldn't help the warm smile that overcame me.
We had always been close. He may have been my brothers best friend and band mate, but I had always had a soft spot for him.

Mom sighed. "Oh I do love him, and he's welcome anytime. It's just I have to makeup the spare bedroom and clean-"

I cut her off, rolling my eyes. "They're family not guests. You don't need to roll out the red carpet" I chucked slightly and earned a warm smile in return.

"I guess you're right honey."

I was about to turn around and walk back up the stairs when she added "and after your homework you can help me clean. "

Groaning, I slumped back to my bedroom feeling defeated.

The next morning is when they arrived home.

I had just pulled on some shorts and a tank top, pulling my long brown hair up into a messy bun when I heard the car pull into the drive.

Josh had been on tour for the past three months. Although we had face timed, I hadn't exactly seen him in person.

I could hear a murmuring of voices from the kitchen before the voice of my older brother boomed up the stares "Romeo Romeo where for art thou Romeo? " he says mockingly.

I barrel down the stairs nearly flattening him with a crushing hug .
"Firstly, my name is Romy, not a boy remember? Secondly that sentence actually means why are you Romeo not where are you" I smirk triumphantly.

Josh hugged me back tightly. "Alright little sis, no one likes a know it all" he said laughing. At this moment Tyler was walking sluggishly through the hall, rubbing his eyes.

I gestured at Tyler "well you must like know it alls, I mean you two are practically married right?" I laughed.

Josh Shook his head "whatever kid" and then he walked up stairs to put his bags away.

Slightly frustrated I called after him "I'm not a kid, I'm only 5 years younger than you!"

The remnants of his laughter still drifted down to us as I turned to face Tyler.

He looked at me expectantly without talking, and I repay him with a blank look.

Finally he breaks the silence. "Well Row boat, do I not get a welcome hug as well?" He uses the nickname that he used to call me when we were both younger.

"Stop whining Ty" I scold jokingly before stepping into his warm embrace. The smell of him enveloped me and, forgetting myself for a moment, I allowed my self to just stand and breathe him in.

Looking back on it, that was probably very creepy.

Shifting awkwardly, I stepped out of his arms and put on a shaky smile. I won't lie and say that I didn't know why he made me nervous. Because I did. And I'm sure any teenage girl in my position would have. Firstly, he's extremely hot. On top of that, he was kind to me. Hot, kind guys would surely have some effect. Wasn't it normal?

"How was the tour?" I ask. Because I didn't really get to have any adventures of my own, I tended to live vicariously through the twos hilarious tour stories.

Tyler seemed kind of distracted. Normally he would have launched into a full blown tale of the antics that they had got up to, the people they had met or atleast the food they had eaten. Instead Tyler just lifted one side of his mouth and said "it was great. New Zealand was great." He paused for a second while I nodded searching for any other detail. "I'm gonna go- uh help Josh. Kay?" He brushed past me gently, walking up the stairs. I guess they were just tired.

At dinner they were both much more lively. I chewed on my slightly rubbery steak which mom had yet to perfect, while listen to them describing how Josh had nearly fallen off stage after standing up and hitting the drum too hard.

"Come on guys, it's not that funny !"

But I thought it was hilarious. I was verging on crying and snorting at the same time. Very attractive.

Tyler carried on "and then dog breath just stopped playing for a whole ten seconds and I just-"

He was cut off by a desperate Josh "Tyler falls off stage all the time too."

"Obviously" I stated, turning up the sarcasm. "Because he's a derp"

Mom gave me a pointed look, not understanding the meaning of a joke. "Don't be so rude Romy, be nice to Tyler"

Tyler looked smugly at me before saying "Don't worry Mrs Dun. Derp is actually pretty accurate. But I have my fren" At this point he hooked his arm around Josh "to look after me"

Everyone was laughing.
That's the thing about Tyler. He could captivate anyone.

I found him pretty captivating.

Josh helped me to carry the plates to the sink afterwards.
"So Romy. How's school?"
Obviously he would start with the most boring thing.

"School. Suckish"

He nods understandingly and prods a bit more about classes and work and teachers and all the things that should be illegal to talk about on the weekend.

And that's pretty much when I got dropped in deep shit. The thing about my brother is that he is pretty chill. But when he needs to be protective, he seems to think he has transformed into the ultimate shield of protection. Usually ending in someone getting hurt...
