Chapter 3: * The Covenant *

           < Caleb's POV >

I don't know what got into me , that I found myself in my mate's room , she was sleeping peacefully like a child, I wish to cuddle her, let her feel that she's mine, let her linger in every inch of my touch. Let her know that I love her and that she's mine. Wait, I know I'm this possessive but you can't blame me man, I've never been in this state though I get attracted by other girls and yes I had kissed some and even put them to bed, but none of them has equalled my hunger and thirst for her. I want to own her, soo bad!

I don't know what if this is love or destiny. Never have I ever encountered this feeling before but I know this isn't just lust, I whole heartedly and irrevocably want her I know it's hard for me to accept since I'm always the hardest and cold-hearted of our kind, but honestly I don't know what got into me that made me realize that it's her that valued my existence.

She's so pure and innocent, so fragile that I can't and never afford to break, she will always be the death of me. I saw her moved and before I can act she woke up and saw me! Damn, I can't let her see me, I can't let her think I was stalking her while she's asleep, was I stalking anyway?

Shit! I just can't let her know I am here, or was.. So the moment she shook her head, I run with all my might and left , jumped out the window and then Off I go.

Before I could start the car Hayley called through our mind links! Ugh, a wolf thing , a witch thing or even a vampire thing, duhh! I'm a hybrid what can I do?

*Caleb, where the hell are you , the King and the Queen awaits your presence, we can't start this without you!* I heard Hayley grasped the same time I heard how Ash howled and man the alpha seemed pissed. Ugh, the Covenant , I totally forgot, how can I ever forget ! Tsk.

*I'm coming!* started the engine and went straight to the castle, not mine but my parents .. Royal Blood.

I opened the doors and there I saw my friends and my parents. They must have heard I found my mate since this is the first time they came and join our yearly ceremony ever since my mother decided to give this tavern to me. I hate it when they dramatically rush me in getting married and give them their grand children which obviously was because of Hayley since she saw my mate coming but except the fact that she's human. Nobody expected her to be which is a fact I can never ever blame.

"Caleb, this will be a great risk for her, knowing there are others out there, and you know they've been after you for the last century for your powers. Remember how they killed your sister? We can't afford to see her in that situation , you know that son!" my father exclaimed.

"I am aware of that, so what do you want me to do, forget about her and just get on with my life knowing our enemies are aware I found my mate. Don't be naive dad we all know they've been spying on us, we just can't trust anybody right now and we just can't leave her!" my wolf growled , I just can't let him take over me now. I'm mad, not because she's human but because of the situation we are in now.

"OK, stop it both of you! It's nobody's fault she's human, Caleb I know it's hard, but if marking her would be her death then try avoid that. I know your strong and I know you can handle this by your own but try to think of her safety, we can't risk her just like what happened to your sister. You cannot just simply mark her, she's weak and helpless." My mother's word hurt me a lot but she's right,  what if I turn her ? What if I'll make her just like me.. I sigh to the thought as I remember how my sister died.

It happened a century ago , my sister was a very beautiful woman, probably the prettiest I have ever seen, she has my mothers eyes, green emerald sparkling eyes. A very slim, perfect figure and straight golden-brown hair. She has my mother's powers, her witch is much stronger than her wolf  and was obviously the next person for the throne of the Covenant. The day before her coronation she was killed. Under the blue moon in a nearby creek.
