“What do you want Anthony?” I asked my old best friend who was currently standing in my doorway.
“You.” He said with a wink.
“Uhhh.” I said awkwardly before giving him a playful shove.
“No, but really.” I said, staring him down.
“Is Kate here?”
“Don’t tell me you’re gonna ask her out on a date.”
“I’m not. I’m taking you on one.” He said putting an emphasis on "you."
I looked at him skeptically after I heard those words leave his mouth.
“You’re kidding right?” I said, assuming that he was just here to ask Kate out.
“C’mon Laur. Just like old times.”
“Are you sure you’re not just here to ask out Kate?”
He leaned in and whispered. “Why would I ask out Kate when the prettiest girl I know is already standing in front of me?”
I leaned in closer, just staring at him.
“What are you doing?” Anthony asked me, probably wondering why I had the back of my palm against his forehead.
“Well, you’re not sick.”
Anthony just rolled his eyes. “Is it wrong to ask your old best friend out on a date?”
“It’s not wrong. It’s just weird.” I told him, scrunching up my nose.
“Laur.” He said in whiny voice. “Please let me take you on a date?”
I was still contemplating on whether I should go with him or not.
“I won’t be a health nut.” He said in attempt to bribe me into going with him.
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, just let me get ready then. Is that what you’re wearing?” I asked, looking at his surf shorts and slippers.
“I’ll change, I’ll change.” He said putting his hands up in surrender.
“Be back in 30.” He said, giving me a wink before leaving.
“What did I just agree to?” I said out loud.
“The best day of your life.” Said the distinct sound of Anthony’s voice down the hall.
I smiled at his stupidity and closed the door.
“Did a tornado go through here recently?” Kate said looking at the pile of clothes on the floor.
I just shrugged.
"I didn't even know you brought along this many clothes." She said, picking up a random shirt and folding it.
"So what's the occasion?" She asked before plopping onto my bed.
“Anthony and I are “hanging out” tonight.”
“Why the quotations around hanging out?”
“He calls it a date.” I told her before rolling my eyes.
“Ah. I see.” Kate said with a smirk.
I raised my eyebrow. “Kate Mitchell. I know that look. I may have known you for a couple weeks but I know you like my sisters by this point.”
She smiled.
“I do not like him.”
“Are you sure about that?”
