Even Brandon and Zach were in short-sleeves, I don't know why Ashton forced me to wear black jeans and a trench coat, I was going to wear black jeans on my own but a trench coat in the middle of summer? As if reading my mind, which he probably was, Brandon tapped me on the shoulder. "He can't make you keep that on, you have a book bag, just shove it in there." He told me, staring longingly at my brother.
I smiled, taking off the coat and shoving it in my purple and blue satchel bag. Ashton hated that my school bag was bright colored but not everything had to be dark and depressing. Our room at home was cut in half, our parents think sharing a room will make our performance better on the hunt, crazy. My side is covered with One Direction and Five Seconds Of Summer posters, his is just plain black with a desk up the far wall.
Zach tapped my shoulder. "Are you going to ignore me?"
I turned to him, his dark purple shirt complimenting his pale skin. "Of course not. Do you like Durham?"
He shrugged. "It's different than Washington, that's for sure."
"I'd bet." I glanced at my brother, then pulled Zach towards me. "You're not going to hurt, anyone are you?"
He looked at Ashton, smirking. "I just might, Babe." he tried to reach for my wrist.
I knew the attempt. Brandon and Jace had told me if they did this to me to jerk back as hard as I could and that's exactly what I did. "What the hell do you think your doing? I don't want to kill you but I might have to."
He smirked. "C'mon Babe, don't tell me I'm the first to try to do that."
"You are! My friends might be vampires but they drink animal blood, and if they tried that on me, they told me to do exactly that. My brother's going to kill you when I tell him what you tried to do!"
"You don't want to do that, sweetheart."
"Why the hell not?"
"I could kill everyone you care about."
I rolled my eyes. "We'd get to you before you could get to them."
He smirked, and glanced at the picture in my necklace. "Is he a hunter? Or a vampire?"
I clutched my locket, remembering the picture that Christian and I took together at swim practice last year. "He's none of your business, and if you hurt him, I'll personally rip your head off."
He shook his head. "Keep him close."
I inhaled deeply and turned to the front. Christian Douglas is a normal, but his grandfather is one of the best vampire killers in the business. His mom doesn't hunt, so his dad gave it up so they could be together. I've been begging him to become a hunter, and he would, but he doesn't want to deal with Ashton. Now he has a reason.
The bell rang and I got up. When I walked out of the building, Zach turned me around. "Keep him close."
As he walked away, Brandon walked up to me. "Are you okay? Did you talk to him?" He asked, grabbing my hand.
I knew I had gone pale. "I did. I think he's going to hurt Christian." I felt tears form in my eyes. "Brandon, what am I going to do?"
He cupped my hand with his other one. "Just keep your eyes on him, I'll try too. Doesn't he have hunter in his blood? Make sure your brother's okay, too. I know he stresses about stuff like this"
I laid my head on his shoulder and wiped my eyes. "Yeah, but he doesn't want to be one."
"Make him want to." He kissed my cheek. "What's your first class?"
