The Missing Link

It all happened the day I went swimming, in the outside pool. It started raining, and went to take shelter, under a bridge. Something started moving, I swam towards it, my legs kicking the water, my arms pushing the water. Something grabbed my leg and pulled me under. In attempt to get away, I tried screaming and splashing. Nothing. My head went under, the last thing I saw was a tail, whipping my face, knocking me out.

I woke up, on the next full moon, in a underwater cave, on the sand, coughing and spluttering. A sweet, melodic song was sung, by a girl with long wavy black hair, stroking my forehead. She smiled at me and I looked at her, taking in every detail. What struck me, was the fact she has a tail. A TAIL FOR GODS' SAKE! She rolled over, landing perfectly into the water.

"Come in, with me" She said softly

I blinked multiple times

"Wh-What?" I caughed

"Come into the water, see your tail" She says again

I slowly got up, and walked reluctantly to the water, sitting on the edge and dangling my legs in. Next thing I knew, my legs were replaced by a long, silver tail, my tshirt replaced by a shell bra, covering barely any cleavage.

"Hold your hand out" She told me, as two other girls, with long blonde hair, and a girl with brown hair, with tails came swimming in

I held my hand our gingerly, and she clasped mine into hers, I bit my lip from the pain, as she let go

"Think of something dangerous, that scares me" She told me. I thought of cars crashing and setting on fire. The next thing I knew, fire was shooting out of my left hand

"What the....?" I mumbled, shocked

"You're a mermaid, now. Welcome to the circle" Says the brunnette

"Mermaids aren't real, though" I said, holding back a laugh, "They're just mythical creatures"

"No we're not just mythical creatures" One of the new blondes snapped, her whole body going red, and radiating heat as Fire shoots towards me

I gasped and ducked into the water, holding my breath as the ball of fire shot into the wall

The other blonde laughed as I resurfaced the water, "You don't need to hold your breath. We have gills" She touched my collarbone and I squirmed under her touch

"What are your names?" I asked no-one in particular

"Im Melody, this is Pixie, Venus and Jasmine" Says the brunnette

So Venus's the one that tried killing me, Pixie's the one who told me about my gills, Jasmine's the first girl with black hair, and Melody's the brunnette.

"Sorry about almost killing you," Venus said, sighing, "Im supposed to be the Goddess of love. UGH I hate my dad"

"If it's not your fault, then you can take your anger out on me. I don't mind" I told her

She moved closer to me and brought me in for a hug

"Silver tails are always the most loving, kind mermaids/mermen. Im a bloody gold tail, which always means your heart is made of stone." She mumbled

I noticed all of the girls, apart from me and Pixie have gold tails.

Pixie had a bronze tail.
