Getting Ready:
"WE GO WHERE NOBODY KNOWS.."
Harry's alarm clock practically screamed the words to Chocolate by The 1975 in his ear. He quickly swiped the screen to turn off the alarm and ran to to Nick's bed.
"GRIMMY GRIMMY FIRST DAY MATE LETS GO," Harry shouted excitedly as he shook his drowsy friend awake. Nick groaned and turned over.
After a minute of Harry's child-like whining and shaking, Nick threw the covers back and sat up.
"I'M AWAKE BLOODY HELL," he roared and marched to the bathroom to take a morning pee. Harry just smiled and picked up the beach pamphlet from his beside table.
The grinning surf god on the cover grinned his bright white smile while laying on his surfboard. The model looked strangely like Louis and Harry couldn't help but giggle.
"Good morning, Louis," Harry said to the booklet, making all kinds of faces to he could properly say hello to Louis if he saw him during class time. Harry frowned as he saw that the pages were turning crinkled. He turned and slid it into his maths folder so it would stay in good shape.
As Nick came out of the bathroom fully dressed, Harry grabbed his clothes from off of the chair and practically skipped to the bathroom. Harry had prepared that outfit last night in order to look his best for Louis. Nick just shook his head and went to the kitchen to grab a few things for their breakfast like he always does.
When Harry joined Nick in the kitchen, Nick almost dropped the food out of his mouth.
"So... What's the verdict?" Harry spun around so Nick could see the outfit.
Harry was wearing a white dress shirt, the sleeves pushed up to his elbows and the top two buttons unbuttoned to reveal the top of his tan chest. His black skinny jeans were tight in all the right places to show off his amazing legs. He looked very classy, save for his brown boots; they were relatively tattered and he could certainly buy more, but the boots were part of his 16th birthday presents and he refused to part with them. Besides, they added a harder edge to the otherwise classy and polished look.
Looking him up and down, Nick could barely catch his breath.
"Looks great Haz," Nick mumbled. Harry grinned.
"Thanks Grimmy! I hope Louis likes it too..." Harry's voice trailed off. Nick winced.
"Hazzy PLEASE don't tell me that bloody beach pamphlet is in your bag..." Nick said disbelievingly. Harry giggled like a little girl with a crush.
"I can't help it Grimmy! It reminds me of him. The tan, the smile, the hair... so surfer, so strong, so..."
"So perfect. You like the All-American surfer guys. Yeah. I get it." Nick choked out. Harry smiled, oblivious to his friend's pain, and went to the get the plate Nick made for him.
Nick turned to watch him go and as soon as Harry was out of sight, he glanced down at himself. Pale, dark-haired, not quite perfect teeth, muscular but not quite strong... Nick had everything Louis had, just not as enhanced. Everything Louis had, Nick's was just not special enough to be special to Harry. Nick sighed as he picked at the rest of his food.
Harry came from the kitchen with hid food and bag.
"Ready, mate?" He asked, grabbing his keys and opening the door. Nick nodded and picked up his bag and leaving his plate on the table. He thanked Harry for holding the door and zoned out to Harry's chatter about what classes he was most looking forward to; and which people he was most excited to see.
Nick nodded in all the appropriate places, but he was lost in thought. He wasn't going to let the first day of his freshman year at an American school be ruined by a little commonplace jealousy. Besides, Harry was just his best friend. He wasn't what Harry was looking for, and as much as it hurt him to admit, Nick knew it was the truth.
