Changes in Everything

Life and death bring many emotions...For instance Grapes died yesterday. Then my mother came home this morning with my new brother. Apparently children don't get an opinion with names once they turn ten... That was a little disappointing...Sophia was the happiest little girl to find out about a new sibling. I, however, applied my mascara and sulked in my bed. Grapes was the best thing to ever happen to me.

I was washed over with new information I don't know how long later. First, I found out that Dad married into a family of "control freaks" That is, every member of our family(skipping some generations...) controls something. apparently, Grapes was the one who figures it out and gets us on our feet with our element, or whatever it is called. It makes sense since he would always take Sophia to the water park after school, and she would always come home with dry hair, dry pants, dry swimsuit, and no towels.

The second piece of information I found out was physical. I recieved a small box holding a wad of tinfoil. When I unwrapped the tinfoil, I saw a perfectly polished brass stopwatch with a perfect little chain and a note.

Sylvia-

By now you probably know more about your familys history, who you are, and who I once was. By the time you are my age, which will be in about 187 more years, you will know even more about yourself. I am writing this to give you another jump start. My-your-watch not only tells time, but it controls time too. speeds up, slows down, stops, and starts. You name it. If you flip it over, you will see a combination lock on the back. The combination is 9  18  0. This lock can open anything. I ask you to please use this power for good and only good. You have no idea how excited I was to find out my granddaughter belonged to time. I figured you would be an elemental like your mother and sister. Don't get any ideas(like I know you do), because I loved them just the same. Just push the button with the perfectly spaced notches to control time. The rest work as an average watch. I know you will not fail, and good luck.

                                                                                                                             -GRAPES

I imediately tied it to my belt loop and and shut my bedroom door. From this point on, I decided I would be known for my bravery, and be known as the Chrome Clock.
