I watched all sorts of people get drunk, too drunk to even stand up, or talk. Therefor, I was really happy that none of my new pal-friends drank. Well, almost none of them. Louis had a few beers, but he didn't get wasted. He just talked a bit more, the "mysterious bad boy with tattoos"-thing didn't really dress him after a few beers. He was actually really funny. Liam didn't drink at all, he had some water though. And neither did Zayn or Niall. Harry got offered a beer, and couldn't resist.
"Do you wanna take a walk?" Louis shouted in my ear when the clock was 9:54pm.
Before I aswerd that question, I wondered if he really wasn't drunk. But no, he looked me steady in my eyes and had a serious face. It couldn't hurt to take a walk, right? Just to get out of the noise and the drunk people.
"Sure." I smiled and he layed his hand on my back to lead me.
It was so good to feel the pounding of the music fade, all the screaming and the smell of beer-breath. Not like I didn't like it, I did. It was a fun start of these four years. But some people just made this into something else.
It was really a starry night. The sky was bigger than usual, or was it just because nothing was in the way? The stars seemed brighter, and the moon seemed closer.
"It's beautiful." Louis said, all of the sudden.
Just like he had read my mind.
"Yeah."
We walked up on a hill, and while we walked up there, I could just feel it in the wind, or in the smell, that we were close to the ocean. And I was right. At the top of the hill, a big, wide ocean stretched out as far as you could see.
"Wow.." Louis said with his mouth slightly open.
"This is beautiful." I whispered.
"You're right about that." Louis said and nodded.
He sat down, and took off his beanie.
"So that's what your hair looks like!" I joked, and he laughed.
On this whole evening I spent with the guys, I had noticed that Louis didn't laugh too much. Well, not more often than he had to. But when he did, his laugh was almost magical.
"Tell me something about yourself.. Uhm.." He stuttered.
I laughed at him, he really tried to remember my name.
"I'm sorry.. Wasn't it something long though? Like something hard to remember.. It can also have to do with the beers I've had.."
I laughed at how he tried to to find excuses.
"Kathleen." I said when I had calmed down.
He snapped his fingers.
"Right! Kathleen.. Tell me something about yourself."
I couldn't really come up with something that would be interesting, without making it sound too personal. So I said:
"My little sister is adopted."
He raised his eyebrows like "really?", and nodded slowly.
"Did your parents adopt her because they couldn't have more children after you came, or did they just do it for.. fun?"
"They couldn't get any more kids, and they wanted me to have a little sister. So they traveled to China, and adopted Faye." I smiled. "Okay, your turn. Tell me something about you."
He looked up in the sky, clearly trying hard to say something good.
"I love to do charity. I have dyed my hair red for charity once, played a football-game for charity, and more and more.."
I was impressed. This punk-guy, who listened to Skrillex, had tattoos all over his body, was really just a huge Teddy Bear. And I earlier thought he was scary.
"Wow.. You're a good guy, Louis."
He smiled, like the smile most people give you when they at the same time blush, but Louis didn't. He just smiled.
We sat like that for a while, leaning on our elbows, hearing the wind sing and feeling the smell of fire. I looked back, and saw all the people, and the big camp fire.
"We should head back. Or at least me, I should get going to my room." I said after a while.
He agreed and we started to go down the path we came up on. My new friends were almost exactly at the same spot we left them. Harry came up to me.
"Where have you been? We were worried!" He hissed.
"I was with Louis and-"
His dark gaze fell on Louis and he went over to him, not letting me finish my sentence. I saw them talking to each other, both angry. Why would Harry be angry? He wasn't my dad or something. Unless.. unless he was jelaous. But why would he be? We had barely spent one hour with each other.
All of the sudden, I felt how someone collided in my shoulder and that something made my whole dress wet. When I turned around, I realized that some idiot dropped his drink on me when he collided with me.
"I-I'm sorry.." He stuttered.
"Get off her!" Harry shouted and pushed him away. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, but I think.. I think I'm just going to head home."
I said goodbye to everyone, and started walking back. After twenty-five, long minutes, I was finally at my destination. All the way to my room too, just the way Niall showed me to walk. I opened the door with my key, and finally got in. My roommate was still up, she sat with her computer.
"You're back." She said without looking up.
I didn't have time to answer, I was tired and smelled alcohol, so I took a quick shower before I was going to sleep. I need my pajamas-shirt, I reminded myself. But it was gone. It was nowhere to be found. It have to be somewhere here, I remember that I brought it, I kept thinking.
"Lost something?" My roommate asked, and looked amused.
"My pajamas-shirt is gone.." I muttered.
She sighed.
"Take mine." She said and grabbed a PINK-shirt and gave it to me.
"Thanks.." I smiled.
I put it on, and layed down in my bed. I was almost asleep when I forced myself to ask:
"What is your name? I can't sleep if you don't tell me."
She was quiet a long time, until she answerd me:
"Bim. My name is Bim. Goodnight Kath."
