Scarlett sat in the corner of her room, covered in a blanket and cuddling her cat, Pooh as the thunder boomed in her ears; she silently screamed every time it boomed. Scarlett immediately texted her best friend, Kara, who also had a fear of thunderstorms.
"Kara!" Scarlett texted. Kara and Scarlett lived in the same town and Scarlett knew if she asked Kara to come to her house right now she most certainly would. She never knew why.
"I know, I know!" Kara replied. Scarlett rapidly texted back, with Pooh still in her arms.
"I'm scared!" Scarlett sent the text. Scarlett trembled as the thunder boomed in her ears again.
"I know, Angel. I know." Angel? Scarlett questioned. Why did she call me 'Angel'.
"Angel? Why did you call me Angel?" Scarlett bit her lip. Did her best friend know her secret? Did she know that Scarlett was an Angel? And that she knew that Kara was a Demon?
" 'Cause you're my angel. ;)" Kara flirted. Scarlett blushed. Why am I blushing? This is my best friend. Scarlett questioned her self. She shook off her thought and replied to Kara.
"I need to confess something." Scarlett hesitated, but sent the text anyway.
"Me too. I'm coming over." Kara replied. Scarlett went to text her back then realized, her best friend would be there in minutes.
Minutes later, Scarlett heard a knock on her front door. She ran to the door to reveal a soaked Kara standing on her porch.
"Welp. I didn't think it'd start raining again." Kara said, her brown hair sticking to her neck and back. Scarlett shook her head.
"You're such a dork." Kara smiled dramatically and hugged Scarlett.
"No! No! You're all wet!" Scarlett exclaimed as her mom came out from the back room.
"That's why Scar's being loud, my other daughter is here." Scarlett's mom smiled.
"Hi, Mom." Kara said and let go of Scarlett.
"Hi, sweetie." She said and went back in the room.
Scarlett rolled her eyes and dragged Kara into her room.
"So, confess." Scarlett said and sat down her bed. Kara shook her head.
"You first." Kara said and sat on the floor. Scarlett breathed in deeply.
"I know that your a Demon... And I am an Angel." Scarlett responded. Kara nodded.
"I know." Kara shrugged. "I have known." She sighed. "That's why when I confess, its going to come back and bite me in the ass." Kara said. Scarlett sat there astonished. Her best friend knew her secret. Scarlett cleared her throat and nodded.
"Now you." Kara breathed in deeply as those words left Scarlett's mouth. Kara swallowed.
"Scarlett..." Kara grabbed her hands. "I...I love you." Kara said.
"Aweh. I love you too." Scarlett said, not fully understanding.
"No, Scar. I really love you. I love you, like your mom and dad love each other." Kara said and looked into the beauty's blue grey eyes, with her dyed brown hair circling her face. Scarlett looked at Kara in disbelief. No. No. She can't love me. We're opposites. She's a demon. Its forbidden.
"I... I'm flattered." That's all Scarlett could say. No other response, she didn't feel the same way. Scarlett never felt about Kara that way, never could feel that way about any girl. Kara's face dropped.
"T-that's it?... You're flattered." Kara scoffed. "I just confessed my love to you. I love you with everything that I am and all you have to say is 'I'm flattered'?" Kara let go of the beauty's hands.
"I'm sorry. I'm not sure what else to say." Scarlett looked at her hands. " I never knew you felt that way... We're best friends." Scarlett said. Kara shook her head.
"I'm going to go home, see you tomorrow." Kara said and left. Scarlett didn't know how to feel. She feels like she broke Kara's heart, yet she doesn't know how. How could anyone like her love someone like me?
Scarlett laid down on her soft bed, with Pooh curled up next to her as she thought about Kara and what she would do about all of this in the end.
