"Alec where are you?" Magnus's voice drifted through the abandoned warehouse, a large decaying building perched on a deserted patch of green.
"Alexander this isn't funny." A tinge of anger and fear grew with in him as he searches endlessly for his husband. On the spur of the moment, stumbling from the corner behind a dust covered tower of stone , a whimpering Alec Lightwood crumbles to the floor infested by a demon bite to the side of his body.
With no time to think Magnus teleports beside his partner, just in time to catch his limp body.
"Alec... Alec what happened?" Magnus shuddered in panic whilst placing his trembling hands on the wound, squeezing out all the magic he could to heal it. But this is no ordinary demon bite.
"Ru...run.... Mag.....
Magus...ple...please...there are Demons circling....... Circling the perimeter, you have to.... Have to leave." Magnus pauses and stares into Alec's eyes, disbelief spread among his face, believing these vital minuets to be their last. Alec's eyes flutter and a lost tear rolls down the apple of his cheek, landing on Magnus's hand that is supporting Alec's heavy blood ridden head.

"Alec how did this happen? Please, please you can't leave me." Magnus chokes on his words whilst he caresses the soft skin of Alec's face as it slowly turns pale.
The crashes and howls of demons are creeping into range, restlessly hunting for the hunter. The scent of the rippling blood dripping from Alec's right side lures the demons into close proximity.

Alec's grip on Magnus's hand suddenly tightens but slowly becomes weak and cold.
"Magnus...... Please you have to go," the words splutter from Alec's loose lips as he gasps for some end most breaths . "Alexander.... I'm not leaving, neither can you...... You promised........ You promised me...... We'd grow old together," another tear falls from Magnus's eyes as the crystal blue fades from Alec's.
"I know.... I ..... I know I did.... And I will.... But just not next to you...... Where I should be." Alec's lips start to curl and the pink plumpness turns into a glacial grey. "Magnus, you.....you mean every....... Everything to me........ Don't for..... Forget me...."

The sounds of the demons rattle and crash from behind the walls of the warehouse.
"Alec please please please..... I will never forget you...... PLEASE DON'T ..... Alec pl-ea-se!" Magnus's shouts soon turn to a dull murmur , the pain of the very words burning his throat.

"Magnus the ..... The bite...... Talk to me.... It..... It hurts..." Alec's voice was cracked and dry as he held Magnus's face in his palm, weakly tracing his fingers on every curve and bone of his profile.

"Okay...... Okay, do you remember..... Our fist kiss Alexander..... In front of everyone .... Your family. Just remember that moment stay in the moment....... Stay with me. You where so bold and fearless Alec I admire that....... That's why I married you...... That's why I love you.." Magnus's voice became restful and hoarse, whilst he twirled the loose charcoal black curl that had rested on Alec's forehead in between his trembling fingertips.

A final whisper rolls off Alec's dry quivering lip where he lay helplessly next to Magnus's shaking body.
"I ... Lov.... I ... I... Love....." the words whistled in the silent air, but he was gone before the sentence could be finished.

Tears flood Magnus's face as he clutches Alec's stiff body close to his beating chest and begins to remember, his heart in sync with his own, the heart that kept him safe, the heart that was his. His lips, curled in a perfect shape, kissable and ample, made just for him. The intensity of his eyes that carried love and bravery, the eyes that he saw for the last time that held fear...... The fear of death.... The fear of loosing him.

Images flash in Magnus's mind like an old black and white movie, memories and moments, laughs and love shared. Again their first kiss and how perfect it was to finally touch. Their wedding and when Simon made a drunk speech about his failed relationships. The adoption of their warlock baby Max and his first words. Their first kiss to their last. And the pain of letting him fall from his arms, slip like a fragile piece of glass. In seconds..... Everything had been devoured into a dark hole, Magnus's heart. He stares at Alec's lifeless body but still  flawless face and wonders ..... How did I deserve you? Where did this all go wrong?

A sudden crash blasted from the metal shutter entering the warehouse and a loud cry bursted from Magnus's body sending fierce crystal shards of magic through the demons. As easy as it sounds, it took every ounce of Magnus, the high warlock of Brooklyn, to produce that amount of magic and power. But it can only be combined with pain and grief, and the most powerful feeling in the world..... Love.... Their only unbreakable bond.

'Alec, my love... My husband...... I won't forget you, you'll always be with me and Max." Magnus wiped another crippling tear from his face, reciting every word with an unbearable punch like feeling in his stomach.
"I'm sorry. Sorry that I couldn't give you everything you wanted and I'm sorry we took this mission even though you didn't, you just wanted to get Max ready for his first day of school tomorrow. I'll... I'll do that little bun that I have everyday for him, I remember you stressing on trying to perfect it." A small smile creased in the corner of Magnus's face, "And I'll make sure our little blueberry grows up just like you wanted him to be. Strong and brave just like his daddy."

Magnus  took one last kiss from his husband who lay on the bitter concrete ground. And decided there is one last thing he must do....

Bring his husband home.
