The New Life

Chapter One

                      I sigh and ring the doorbell, giving myself a quick look over. I wasn't completely satisfied but I waved it off. DJ opened the door and smiles and me and my mother. "Hey Kali! Hey Mary! Come on in!" I thank her and walk through the door. Jackson hears the commotion and turns to see me. He smiles widely and runs over to me. "Hi Kali! Just in time, thanks for coming." "No problem." I blush a little when I catch him staring. He slings an arm around my shoulders. "Are you ready to be bored out of your mind!" He says in a fake excited tone. I raise my eyebrows. "I invited you for a reason ya know." I laugh. "I'm so honored to be the person to share your boredom with you!" I joke sarcastically. I take a look around the room. "Ramona's here." I say teasingly. He groans. "Whyyy." He drags out the word. I chuckle and DJ comes over. "Jackson go talk to Ramona!" Asks DJ. "Mom! No-" "Jackson you can't possibly be mad about your sixth birthday!" Jackson goes on and on about his birthday and I push him towards Ramona. "I'm going to get an apple. Good luck." I declare, and give him a final push towards Ramona. They're now saying hi and I chuckle and walk into the kitchen when the chime of my phone stops me.

Jackson😏🙄✌🏼️: HELP!!!😷😧😫

Kali😂💖😛: Gosh fuller, you really hold grudges...

Jackson😏🙄✌🏼️: The party isn't the only thing she did...

Kali😂💖😛: ??Huh

He didn't respond to that next text so I walked out, without my apple might I add,(thanks a lot Jackson).

Jackson😏🙄✌🏼️: SOS

"I'm here to save ya." I say resting my elbow on Jackson's shoulder. He sighs in relief. "And just in time! I was just telling these two to get to know each other! If you don't remember, Ramona this is Kali and Kali this is Ramona!" DJ says excitedly and Ramona mutters, "How could I forget her!" As DJ walks away. Jackson eyes widen and gives her a pleading and scared look and I raise an eyebrow at her smug face. "Ok?" I say giving Jackson a look meaning 'you're telling me later.' I look over to DJ and hear her talking. "As I'm looking around the room I'm realizing that after tonight, everyone's going to be gone. You're leaving, yo-" A small noise snaps my attention away from DJ. I'm sure it's only soft enough for Jackson and I to hear it, but I turn red and fish my phone out of my pocket to see who texted me. I mouth 'sorry' to Jackson and look at the texts.

Bobby💥🔥💩: Wanna come over 2morrow

Kali😂💖😛: Sorry I can't tomorrow. Maybe another day?

Bobby💥🔥💩: Sure or maybe when Jackson comes next.

Kali😂💖😛: Sounds good👌🏼👍🏼

I put away her phone as Jesse starting to sing forever. I surprise myself when I start to hum and even more when I start to sing. Jackson gives me a suspicious look and a smile and I blush a deep red and I quickly shut my mouth. As the song comes to the end, Danny takes the stage. "Alright Jesse. Let's keep this party going!" Oh no... I think as he starts singing, horribly may I add. I race up to Jackson's room and we both erupt into a fit of laughter. "That- W-was.... Horrible." I say between laughs. He smiles. "Now if you'll excuse me... I have something to do." I raise an eyebrow but let him go do whatever he's doing. I gasp as I look to the stuff near his bed. "That's where I left it!" I cry and snatch The Hunger Games happily. I skip downstairs happily and finally grab the apple I needed and bit out of it, opening my book. I read as I walk into the living room and somehow end up laying on the couch. I look up to Jackson's smiling face. "Jackson!" I shriek and gasp as I realize that my head was in his lap. I sit up quickly and say an awkward apology. He laughs and grabs my shoulder, easing me back down on his lap. I allow him too and squirm a bit until I feel comfortable and start reading again as he goes back to his phone.
