I'm in a cold dark room chained to the wall like a prisoner. With the chains wrapping around my neck and a muzzle over my mouth. I have given up screaming because I know no one can hear me. I have tried to escape many times; I have given up since I know there is no escape. Every time I stretch my chain as far as it will go I feel blood trickle down my neck from the spikes inserted into the neck piece. I wonder where the professor is because he does not normally take this long to come and check on me.
I hear a twig snap and then I see Mr. Drew slowly walk towards the entrance of the cave. His eyes scan my bloody neck and my messy hair. My hair is longer than my whole body. He walks up to me and he smells of alcohol I He give me a glare like he is mad at me when I have done nothing. I feel like he is in his slapping mood, instead he hands me a new book called Alice and Wonderland. It has been long since he brought me a gift. I turn to reach for the book that is when it comes the hardest slap I have felt. I feel tears start rushing down my face my vision becomes blurry. Mr. Drew sets the book down with a brush, wash cloth, and a new set of clothes. "Get cleaned up we are going to town. I'll be right back" Mr. Drew yells as he walks away with a grin on his face. I watch him walk until I don't see him anymore. I grab the brush and pull the knots out of my hair. When I finish brushing my hair I grab the wash cloth and wipe my face and the blood off my neck. I look down at the clothes Mr. Drew gave me and notice that it is a nice pink dress. This is the most Mr. Drew has ever given me. I slide of my old rags and put on the dress.
I sit in silence waiting for the professor to come back and pick me up to go to town. Instead of Mr. Drew walking in this woman walks in. "Hello is anyone in here?!" This woman asked. I tried to answer but all I could get out was a snuffed out cry. She looks over to where I am sitting and asks, "Who are you?" Again I tried to answer but, I could only mumble. I look up at her about to cry she walks in closer. She slowly got closer still nervous of me, but wanting to comfort me. "Are you alright? Why are you all chained up?" She throws question after question as she pulls my muzzle off. I take in a large breath of fresh air before I try to answer any of her questions. "So... I ask again who are you?" I look down at my feet not knowing what to say. When I look up I see Mr. Drew staring at me, "Melody! Back away.... Back away now!" The woman turns around shocked to see this drunk man staring at me. I watch her reach in her side bag and pull out a gun. "Who are you?!" She yells to Mr. Drew. The professor's eyes widen in fear as the woman steps into the light to show him the gun. "I am the owner of this land. What are you doing here?"
"Do you not see the storm coming, I came to find shelter. When I stumbled upon her. Why is she all chained up?"
"None of this is your business."
"It actually is my business because I am a cop. So pretty much it is my job."
"Show me proof before I actually believe you."
"Okay to be exact a former cop. I still want to know because this is terrible. If you don't tell me I will call the cops."
"Listen this little girl is dangerous, and apparently so are you. How about we put the gun down and sit. I will explain everything even though you will probably think I am crazy." The woman puts the gun in her bag and remains standing. Dr. Drew looks at her in disappointment as he sits down on the ground and pulls out another beer. He looks at me again, but this time out sympathy. "First of all young lady can I ask for your name?"
"My name is not for you. I would really like to know your name though."
"Well my name is yours to have, I am Louis Drew most people call me Mr. Drew."
"So are you ready with your explanation."
"Give me a second." He looks over at me and reaches in his pocket and pulls out a remote. He points it towards me a clicks the button. I feel a sharp pain in my neck and I pass out. The last thing I hear is Dr. Drew say, "I am sorry Melody, sleep tight, this will be over soon."
