Lily slowly got up from her bed, pulling on slippers as she walked toward her dressing table, grabbing a hairbrush as she walked, and began to attack the mess of orange- red hair on her head. Once finished, her long hair lay in a plait down her back, and she looked into her thin, freckled face, so like her mothers. Her eyes, the same shade as Ginny and Grandma Weasley's, were a medium brown. She looked into her face for a few seconds, contemplating whether or not to put on make- up, before deciding not, and tugging on the muggle clothes she always wore during school holidays.
She stumbled out of her room, still quite tired, and thumped down the stairs, her footsteps muffled by the carpet and her slippers.
'Morning Lil.' Ginny said, as she walked into the kitchen, and sat down,
'Morning mum. Where's dad?' she asked, as she tugged the plate of pancakes away from Albus's grabbing hands.
'He's getting James. I think Mary stayed over last night.' Ginny rolled her eyes as she spoke, before looking up at the ceiling, where they could hear the muffled dregs of a conversation.
'Morning all.' Said James, as he walked into the kitchen, ruffling his dark brown- red hair, and looking toward the table,
'Ah! Pancakes!' James pulled out his wand, and summoned a pancake Albus was about to eat, which sailed into James' mouth.
'Two days.' Albus huffed, 'Two days and I can summon things, and make stuff fly, and dissaparate.'
'Yeah, well I can now, kiddo.' James said, as he sat down, and pointed a rude hand gesture at Albus, which he was unfortunately caught doing by his mother,
'If I ever see you make that awful gesture again, I'll jinx you.' Ginny said,
'JAMES?' a voice yelled from the top of the stairs, 'GET UP HERE!'
'Dad's awake then,' Albus drawled,
'What is it?' James asked,
'Why is there a GIRL in your room?' Harry roared,
'Oh, I better sort that one out.' James said, jumping up and galloping up the stairs.
'I think I need to make sure Mary doesn't get frightened.' Ginny said, 'She's probably never seen how Harry gets when he's mad.' And with that, Ginny raced up the stairs, and soon came down with a teenage girl, who looked thoroughly confused.
'But, what? James said he lived here by himself.' Mary stuttered, as she was pushed into the fireplace, and she disappeared by floo.
Soon, James and Harry came down the stairs, both very red in the face.
'How dare you bring her here? And tell her that you-'Harry began, but stopped at a look from his wife, and a gesture towards Albus and Lily.
'What did he do? Are you going to confiscate his broomstick?' Albus said hopefully,
'If you don't shut up, I'll burn your books.' James said,
'Mum! He can't-'
'James, you're in enough trouble as it is. If I were you I'd keep my mouth shut.' Harry said, 'As your mother performs an excellent bat- bogey hex.'
'Mhmm.' Ginny said vaguely, and she passed Lily the plate of pancakes,
'When do we need to go?' Lily asked,
'Soon,' Harry said, 'Probably around eight 'o' clock for you, mum and I, but James and Al will leave later.'
'Why do you get to fly? Why do I have to stay with Mr Mc- Scared- Of- Heights?' James said, 'Surely he can just floo by himself.'
