Hello readers! Thank you all so much for reading Lazarus Falling!

I usually include Author's Notes with each chapter, but I didn't for this one. I didn't have enough time to do so with each chapter. So here you go! All of the details behind the creation of this story.

Lazarus Falling was written for a contest on Wattpad's Fanfiction profile, entitled "A Different World". The prompt was to create a story that showed what your chosen fandom would look like without your favorite character. I considered writing about Doctor Who and removing either The (Eleventh) Doctor or Clara, but that idea was quickly scrapped, because the timelines and plot points of Doctor Who are honestly a hot mess. In the end, I chose to write about the Supernatural universe, in which my favorite character was Castiel. WHICH MEANT I HAD TO KILL MY BABY OFF.

I bet some of you can guess why I chose the name "Lazarus Falling" for my story! Don't worry if you can't, though, there are a ridiculous amount of Supernatural episodes

I bet some of you can guess why I chose the name "Lazarus Falling" for my story! Don't worry if you can't, though, there are a ridiculous amount of Supernatural episodes. It's a play on the very first episode where Castiel appears, "Lazarus Rising"...or in the case of "Lazarus Falling", doesn't appear.

In a way, this story was a self-imposed challenge for me. I wanted to see how quickly I could complete a short story, and also predict the course of future events based on one change to the canon. Below, I've created a sort of canon-versus-canon-divergence guide (for Dean mainly, his storyline changes the most. *cough* Destiel *cough*); if you were confused at any point of Lazarus Falling, it's worth a look.

One last request: If you liked this book, please vote on it, especially your favorite chapter! I'm curious to know which part people liked the best. My favorite part (both to read and write) was Chuck's epilogue, personally, especially the line where he says the world might have been safer without the Winchesters, but it wasn't a better world. I admit, I was absolutely stunned when that line came to me and had to sit down and say it a few times aloud.

Thank you all,

Gia

Canon-vs.-Non-Canon-Divergence:

Canon (Dean Winchester): Is rescued from Hell by Castiel = Has Castiel's support = Does not become Michael's vessel = Helps Sam break free of Lucifer's control

Lazarus Falling (Dean Winchester): Castiel dies = Dean remains in Hell for 140 more years = Starts to become a demon = Is rescued by Michael = Needs Michael to get rid of his demon-ness = Becomes Michael's vessel = Is trapped in the Pit forever

Very little changes for Sam; except that no one rescues him from the Pit.

Gabriel is more bitter in Lazarus Falling. Because of this bitterness, he doesn't try to stop Lucifer from killing the gods in Season 5, and thus survives.

Bobby survives the Apocalypse in the canon, but that's because Dean and Cas were there with him. In Lazarus Falling, without them, he dies.

Michael has a different vessel and he has to rescue Dean, but that's all that changes for him.

Adam's life isn't dramatically changed by Michael, because Dean is compliant.

Nothing changes for Lucifer or Chuck.

Hope this suffices! If you're confused or just want to talk to me directly about the story, feel free to comment on here or on my page, which are both no-judging zones.
