Everything was perfect. The roof of the garage had Christmas lights hanging on every wall. There was a small circular table in the middle with a candle and a rose he would give to her. There was music playing in the background because he knew how much she loved to dance. He had ordered her favourite meal because he needed this night to be absolutely perfect. He just hoped the rest of the team would get here in time with his delivery.
"Walter," Paige said giggling as she struggled to walk up the stairs, "would you like to tell me why I am blindfolded now?"
"Hold on. We are almost there." He said leading her to the last step, and then he opened the door and removed the blindfold from her face. "Okay here we are."
Paige's eyes widened, "Walter did you do all of this?" she asked.
"Oh uh yes. I told you I had something very special planed for tonight so uh here we are. Do you like it?" He asked nervously.
"Walter I love it. It's so amazing. I can't believe you did all of this for me." Paige said in awe.
"Of course I did. You know I would do anything for you." Walter said looking at her.
"I know. But it is still amazing." She said, still in awe.
"Well I'm glad you like it. Should we uh eat?"
"Oh, yes we shall."
"Great." Walter said taking her hand and leading her to the table.
Once they were almost done eating Paige asked, "As much as I do appreciate this, why not just take me to a restaurant like we usually do for date night?"
"Uh well I wanted, no I needed tonight to be special." Walter responded nervously.
Paige responded, with a small grin on her face, "And why exactly did you need it to be perfect?" Just then, as if on cue, the couple heard banging noises and feet running up the stairs, which startled Paige. It would have startled Walter but he was expecting it. Walter dashed to the door and closed it so Paige wouldn't hear anything. A few seconds later she saw her boyfriend re- appear through the door way and she shot him a questioning look. "Walter, what was all of that about?" She asked him with a tone in her voice that he knew she wanted a truthful answer. Walter took a deep breath it was now or never he thought. He took Paige by the hands and led her over to the corner of the garage. Then he did something Paige was not expecting, he kneeled down and pulled a small black box out of his pocket. Paige covered her mouth in awe and quietly said, "Oh my god."
"Paige ever since I saw you in the diner something in me changed. And at first I was terrified. I had never felt this way before and it scared me because I could not comprehend it. But you helped me realize what I was feeling and slowly I became more comfortable with it. And I became more comfortable around you, the person giving me these feelings. And thanks to how patient you are with me, I finally asked you out on a date, and I finally told you that I loved you. And I do love you Paige. I love you and Ralph more than anything in this world and I cannot imagine a world where I don't have you by my side everyday. And I don't want to imagine a world like that. Because Paige a world where you aren't beside me is not I a world that I would like, Paige you are my world. I love you more than you could ever imagine and I'm sorry it took me so long to tell you that. I'm going to try and tell you that as much as I can, but I'm sorry if I don't tell you as much as you would like. But Paige like I said before I cannot imagine a world without you and Ralph, so will you uh, will you marry me?" When Walter concluded his speech Paige had tears in her eyes and her mouth still open in awe.
"Yes Walter. Of course I will marry you." Paige said happily as she leaned in to kiss her new fiancé. Moments later when the couple broke apart they heard faint voices coming from the other side of the door, Walter and Paige both looked at each other, smiled and rolled their eyes as they made their way over to the door. What the newly engaged couple was not expecting was the entire team to tumble forwards.
"So?" Cabe asked.
Paige and Walter looked at each other and smiled, "We're getting married." Paige said holding up her hand. The whole team erupted in cheers and Ralph ran over and hugged both of them simultaneously. Then the rest of the team made their way over to give congratulations. Almost an hour later Cabe took Ralph home and Paige and Walter were alone once again. They were sitting on the couch, with Walter's arm around Paige and her head on his chest.
"Walter?" Paige said.
"Hmm?" He responded.
"I can't believe we're getting married. I'm so proud of you and how far you have come since I met you in the diner." She said.
"That day if someone had told me that only four years later I would be sitting here with my fiancé I never would have believed them." Walter said with a chuckle.
"Fiancé. I like the way that sounds." Paige said smiling.
"Me too Paige, me too." Walter said kissing her head.
