Chapter 1

Perrie's POV:

Everyone paused, their jaw dropped as I said "I can't sing." Cora quickly grabbed my wrist and pulled me away from the studio.

"What are you doing?!" Her eyes widened as she stared and asked me.

"I-I can't sing, I can't do this anymore. I'm also tired. I don't want this kind of life. I-I qui-..."

Her hand covered my mouth as she saw the girl walked in front of us. "Are you crazy?! Think about your family! Think about your mother! This is just the start." She whispered.

"I-I chang-..."

She cut me. "No! You signed the contract, there's no turning back now! So come on, you have to practice."

She grabbed my wrist again but I pulled it back. "What if I'll say no? Besides, no one likes me. I don't have a fan either."

"You're wrong! Do you remember your first album? Everyone loves it!" She protested.

"Because you did something to make them buy it! We're just wasting our time here! Why don't we just go home and simply live by our own lives? I can't do this, I quit!" I walked away.

"Perrie Edwards!" She called me, raising her voice. "I am your manager and therefore I have the rights to tell you what to do!" I turned back and I saw the heat rises to her face. For short, she's getting angry. With her finger pointed on the floor, she added. "You wanna go back to your old life?! Your mother, did you ever try to think about her situation?! She thinks your the answer of her prayers, she thinks your gonna be the one who can save your family's slavery! Why don't you think about that?! Some people out there wants to have this kind of life, you must be thankful that I discovered and chose you!"

"Uhh..." I looked down and felt completely ashamed. "I'm sorry." She is right, my mother thinks that I'm gonna be the one who can save our slavery. I can't quit, I have to do this for my mother, for my family.

"Come on! Let's just go home!" With the looked of her face, I can say that she's completely pissed of what kind of attitude I showed to her.

"B-But we have to-..." I pointed the way where the studio is.

"Let's just go home!" She walked passed through me and I quickly followed her.

Welcome to my life.

Before, my life was just simple but full of happiness. Selling some foods, flowers, etc. just to have money is my usual work. I miss playing with the other kids, teasing my brothers and sisters, most especially, I miss the bonding of our family. I didn't wished to be famous and to receive all the fame. Just being with my family is enough for me. But because of the tragic accident happened to my brother, I decided to enter this kind of business. I did everything to have money and to pay it to the hospital for my brother. I joined singing contest and I won, but the money is not enough. Few days passed, someone knocked on our door. I opened it and I saw Cora. She said that she wanted to be my manager. She paid all the bills of my brother in the hospital. My mother encouraged me to accept what Cora wanted. Not letting my own conscience kill me, I accepted it. My mother was happy co'z finally we can have a better life.

But now, I realized what kind of business I entered. Having sleeps only 4 hours every 3 days a week just to practice singing is very tiring. I know lots of people wants to be like what I am now, but it's not easy. You have to act scripted just to let people like you and you have to handle things carefully co'z some people will hate you. This kind of business is not easy co'z everyone is watching you. If you'll act stupid, your picture will be place in front of the newspaper with a negative comment. Some people will not remember you when you'll do good, but if you'll do something bad, your name will be written in their minds forever and they'll never forget what you did.

Cora looked at me and took a deep breath. "Go to your room and take a rest. I understand what you feel right now." She patted my shoulder, giving me a 'sympathetic look'. "Look, you have to be prepared. This is different, you are not the old Perrie anymore and you have to accept that."

I nodded.

"Okay, I'll just have to think of how to gain your fans. Just go and take a rest now."

I nodded to her again as I got out and closed the car's door.
