I sat in the rain. Sitting on the cold ,wet pavement. I hugged my knees. I buried my head deep in her lap and drift into a sleeping state.
Suddenly I heard hard foot steps against the wet pavement. I felt someone touch my shoulder. I fell over instantly pushing my head on the sidewalk. A sharp pain raced through my head. My body was cold and wet. My breathing quickened. My eyes flashed gore images. I couldn't explain even if I tried.
"We need a doctor or an ambulance!! Hurry" a woman on the street called out. The girl in cafe apron rushed though the back door and got small towels and put them under my head. The ambulance came and put me on a gurney.
I was strapped down and a mask went over my face. I soon became sleepy but fought against it. I felt unsure and threatened. The mask helped as I slowly fell asleep.
I woke up in a bed. This won't my bed. Everything was covered in blood. My chest felt heavy. I sat up and looked at the blood splatter sheets. My hands felt wet but crusted over and dry. I pick up my hands to see blood smeared all over my hands. I feel something cold drip on my head. I began to shave violently. I slowly look up. Before I could see what it was, I heard a blood curdling scream.
I shot awake. A nurse in the room ran up to me. She softly pushed me down. A dizzy spell fell over me. My head hurts like hell.
"Be careful baby girl," she said with a motherly voice.
I did how was told. She softly touch my wrist. I felt something tickle my nose. I look down to see a long tube. I gently touch it. She yanked my away. I winced in pain."Don't touch it," the nurse said no longer sounding cheer. Her voice sounded wrong as though it didn't belong to her. I shivered as her voice echo throughout the hollow room. Another nurse walked in with a tray of food. Her eyes looked lifeless and dead. I started at her as her eyes switched from dead to alive. Nothing to pleading.
Suddenly a weight was lifted. The nurse with food nearly dropped it because she was startled. She look like she didn't know how she had gotten here. The nurse still gripping my let go immediately.
"I am so sorr- I I'm- Oh gosh. I'm sorry dear," she pleased for forgiveness, though I had already forgiven her.
"It's okay ma'am," I smile. She smiled nervously then left. The nurse set the tiny foldable white table. It stretched just around my thighs. She set down the tray of food.
"You have a visitor," the nurse said sitting down next to me on the foot of my bed.
"I would like to see them please," I said with a smile. She got up and I cleared my throat. She turned around on her heels.
"Umm... I'm uh vegetarian," I started down at the chicken and meatloaf on my plate.
"Oh I'm sorry. I'll get you something else," she pick up the try and left. A girl with bleach blonde hair came in. You could tell she naturally dark-headed by how dark her roots were. Her eyes were a chocolatey brown. Her wrapped in a messy bun. The bags under her eye were heavy. I guess she's in college. I stare at her. She stares at me. Suddenly she was dosing off. I snap and then quickly sat up straight.
"I'm Kaden Scott," she said her voice sounding smooth.
"My... name is Elliott," I say softly. I brushed the hair back and behind my ear.
"Elliott?" She smiled "rolls off the tongue," she laughs. The nurse came in and placed a salad and fruit cup. I thank her then she leaves. Kaden looks at my salad like she was going to attack it.
"Do you want my fruit c-,"
"Yes please," she said as she snatched it off my try. I laugh then look down at my salad. I began to eat it when I suddenly felt my throat start to close. I start cough and cough. Kaden smacks my back launching what looks to be a rose petal and a vine. Kaden looks at me and I look at her. I put the small tray and table away.
