Heiji fidgeted on his sit on the train.
"Hey, im sure its not the time to fidget around, Hei-kun." Kaito said, clearly annoyed by the latters fidgets.
"Wut! Cant help it yah know!" Heiji defended, "well... Its okay if you want to back down and do plan b." Shinichi suggested.
"Wha-no! We're gonna do dis and thats final!" Heiji shouted.
"Then dont fidget around, its annoying." Saguru looked irritatedly at Heiji.
"Hmph! After me, ya're going next! Wonder how ya'r parents would react 'bout ya'r condition!" Heiji retorted. He stuck his tongue out.
"But, before mine, yours have to go first." Saguru smirked.
"Damn yah!" Heiji muttered, "maa, maa calm down!" Kaito sweat dropped.
Shinichi sighs, theyre soooo childish... "Shin-chan, its bad to call people childish, you know!?" Kaito said.
Geh! He can read minds!? "Of course not, your expression is just really easy to read." Kaito said.
"Kimochi warui..." Shinichi shivered, "Thats mean!" Kaito pouted.
"Bwahahahahahahaha!! I-haha- c-can't-hahahaha-stop! Ahhahah!" Heiji laughs, clutching his stomach.
Saguru chuckled.
"Mou! Omae-tachi wa hidoi!" Kaito huffed.
"Ahahaha... Its okay, Kaito." Shinichi patted Kaito's back, trying hard not to laugh.
"Hmph!" The phantom pouted, sulking in the corner. Shinichi laughed again.
...
For once, Heiji regretted deeply for volunteering to be the first one. He took a deep breath and nervously shifted once again. The thoughts of his father and mother's reaction lingered heavily upon his head as the cold and pre-winter breeze of Osaka hit his dark skin harshly. He heard the silent murmurs from behind complaining about the cold, he was sure it's Kaito, he was the only one wearing light clothing despite the fact knowing that winter is just in Japan's footstep.
They were walking on the bustling streets of Osaka with people hurried to buy the cheapest of the cheap stuff, with the obvious sale sign that marred each store that Heiji laid his eyes upon.
It was nostalgic, to say the least. He missed his hometown.
He felt someone tap on his shoulder, turning around, he saw Shinichi's face with an incomprehensible expression. "Wut is it?" Heiji asked, he raised a brow and stopped walking altogether. Kaito, who had been chatting endlessly and annoying Saguru, stopped and held unto Saguru wrist to stop the latter also.
"No, It's just, are you sure to reveal this to your parents?" Heiji kept his lips unto a thin line, as they stickily attached each other. Shinichi kept his platonic front and gazed at Heiji carefully, to see any sign of emotion and such. And so Heiji showed uncertainty.
Heiji closed his eyes and sighs heavily, he slowly tapped back Shinichi's hand to sign that he can let him go. "It's very nerve breakin'." He said, raising his head to gaze at the bluish and orange-ish sky, it was almost sundown, he looked at it with his eyes shining with the light that was being reflected on it.
"For sure by now, Mom and Dad would have filed a missing report on me. And getting worried, while I was having fun. It brings my spirit down that the person that will face them is not their current son, or the body, but that of his younger self."Heiji said continuously, without stopping for a second. Shinichi narrowed his eyes and held his breath for a second before releasing them altogether. "Yeah, that's true." He breathe out.
Saguru just stared blankly, he took out his watch and sighs. "Come on, we all know for a fact that everyone we know will worry about us, maybe except for Kaito's... acquaintances, but we are all shouldering heavy burdens. We cannot let ourselves be defeated by it can we?" Saguru said. Kaito nodded, ignoring what the blonde detective have said about him and dropped both of his arms on the two detectives (Shinichi and Heiji).
"Come on, lighten up! It's not like this is permanent! As they said, enjoy the present!" Kaito said, grinning from ear to ear. Heiji smiled a little bit, so did Shinichi. Though, after that, Shinichi brushed off Kaito's hand and heiji followed suit. "Mou! How harsh." Kaito pouted but soon smiled.
...
Soon, the found themselves walking on the park with trees that looked like Sakura when not in season, which was true. Until they heard a loud thump from a neighboring tree. Heiji's brow crunched as he opened his mouth to shout, but when he saw the person who hurt the poor innocent sakura.
It was Kazuha.
Saguru pushed the three into the back of the tree that was facing Kazuha, since he was the most exposed of the three, he took responsibility. Heiji clenched his fist as he heard Kazuha's sob.
"Heiji, w'ere da 'eck 'r yah?" Kazuha muttered, but the 4 heard it loud and clearly. Heiji bit his lips as he slumped into the tree's root and rubbed his hands intohis face, frustrated.
"I'm sorry, Kazuha. I promise, I will find the cure." AsHeiji said that, his eyes burned fiercely with determination and passion. The wind did its job, giving the two parted childhood friends a connection, in which Heiji will never forget.
This was the day where he promised himself that h will not lose anymre, for Kazuha and find the cure.
