Chapter Five - Last Chance

...beep

I WOKE UP. Panting and covered in a cold sweat. I sat up and a fierce pain seeped through my body. I winced in horror and looked around. What happened?
       "Taylor!" Selena put her hand on my pulsing shoulder.
       "Ow." I said faintly.
       "Oh sorry." Selena removed her hand frantically. "You're awake...how are you feeling?"
       "Uh...Not good. What happened?"
       "You got hit"
       "By what?" I remember now. The silver car swerving pass and hitting my ankle, I screamed and fell to the ground as the mass ran over my aching body. After that, all was a blur. Ow. My head was pounding. Selena didn't respond. I think she could tell that I remembered. I'm sure that the pain was shattered across my face. Then I remembered. "Where's Harry?"
       "Harry? Why are you asking for him?" She questioned, a little upset.
       "He cheated on me."
       "WHAT?" Selena yelled. I started to cry again and she held me close to her. "We'll get through this. I'll go talk to him."
       "No. Selena, bring him here. I sorta want to talk to him alone."
       "Okay, okay. Whatever you want." She tells me with an encouraging smile. That was the strength I needed.

       "ARE YOU TRYING TO DEFEND YOURSELF? IM NOT STUPID, HARRY. I SAW YOU."
       "I THOUGHT YOU DIDN'T WANT ME ANYMORE."
     "JUST BECAUSE I HAVE A CAREER? A TOUR? IM BUSY. I HAVE PRIORITIES. AND YOU WEREN'T ALWAYS NUMBER ONE. AT LEAST I DIDN'T SPOON ANOTHER GUY WHILE YOU WERE ON TOUR. BUT YOU DID. THERE WAS ANOTHER GIRL. YOU BETRAYED ME."
       "But—"
       "GET OUT."

       As soon as he left, I broke down crying. Do I deserve this? Was this my fault? Maybe he should have been number one. But I wasn't his number one. I never was. He always had something else that was more important. And it was never me.
