Why? Why did it have to be him?! This all seems just so unrealistic! It was all okay before he got the job.

Before he married my mom.

Before they won.

It all started one afternoon. It was very nice outside. Not to cold not to hot. Perfect almost.

My mom was out front gardening, and I was inside watching tv.. Like everyday.

I looked out the window of my bedroom to see my mom talking to the new neighbor that she had been planing on going over too and greeting to the neighborhood herself but just never got the time.

They had been talking for hours before she decided to come back inside. It was already late so I was guessing she was going to get ready to cook dinner.

" I'm going to go clean myself up a bit honey. I hope you don't mind but I invited our new neighbor over for dinner." My mom had told me before going to her bathroom.

Something was strange about this. She was blushing. I haven't seen her blush since my dad was alive.

I guess it's good for her though. I mean she hasn't dated anyone since the passing. Oh god.. My mom hasn't dated anyone in 4 years.

About an hour goes by and my mom calls me in for dinner. When I walk in the dining room the new neighbor is already sitting at the table.

" Mia this is Paul our new neighbor, Paul this is Mia my daughter." My mom introduces us as we shake hands.

The whole night was filled with my mom and Paul talking. I could tell he made her happy.

Not just by the way she was obviously flirting but by her face. Her checks would get a little bit redder every time he would talk. It was cute.

And he must of felt the same way to because 9 months of them "dating" or at least what they called dating, him coming over every day and every single night, he finally proposed.

And I swear to this day, that I have never in my 16 years of living have seen a smile that big on my mothers face.

I was happy for her but that's until they actually got married. Or at least what happened after they got married.
