Chapter 1: Gabriel

It's cold... So cold that my body is numbed and I can't move... Though I could care less of moving... In this bleak December, in this snow-filled rain, in this crowd mourners, I wished to disappear. I wished for my existence to be erased from the world.

"Well isn't that a bit sad? To think that way?"

I looked up. There, were I stood in front of my parents' coffins, was a boy. He looked older than me but much younger than my dad-who was only 30. His hair was jet black

and his eyes where iced blue. And his skin was pale and fair... Like an Angel's...

He casually sat Indian-style on my mother casket and peered down at me. I stared back at him wondering why he was staring at me.

I looked around to see if any adults say him. I was waiting for them to come and yell at him and tell him that he was upsetting me with such respect toward my died parents, but nothing happened. Though he still sat there without a care.

Maybe he was waiting for an answer.

I opened my mouth, then closed it again. Frowned. Then stared some more.

"Oh! How rude of me." He said suddenly and shoved out a large hand. "I'm Gabriel... And you are?"

I hesitantly slip my hand into his, where he tightly but gently gripped my hand and shook it.

"K-kana." I told him.

He smiled down at me and said "That's such a cute name."

I felt my face burn.

"Kana? Who are you talking to?"

I turned to see my teacher, Mrs. Watts. Her face was in a grim twist of confusion and concern.

"This is..." When I looked back Gabriel was gone.

Mrs. Watts expression was now sorrowful. "Oh. Kana, dear..."
