•The heartbreaker's back•I don't know how to react. I just plaster on a a fake smile. He's back and he's so close to me.
"What I job would I be perfect for?" I ask Ms.Even's. Ignoring the feeling of my chest closing up.
"Ahhhh yes, I want you to tutor Jesus. I've already talked to all of your teachers you two a going to be in the same classes and be partnered up for the first semester, and French as the elect unless you'd like to change yours..."
She ends her rambling to ask Jesus a question finally.
"Yeah, sure, whatever helps me graduate." He says looking at me to see my reaction, but I just stand there with a smile, pretending I'm ok with all of this.
"Graduate?..." I ask turning my attention back to Ms.Evens
"Ohhh yes. Jesus missed a lot of school due to moving around and family problems, so he's behind on everything and unless he gets perfect grades in all of his classes he won't be able to graduate this year. So I need you to help him. And you'd be getting college credits and letters of recommend from half of your teachers. "
I nod pretending to be considering everything, and right away I know my answer.
I don't want to be in the same classes as my ex-boyfriend.
Ms.Even is just siting at her desk with the biggest smile ever. "Can we talk a moment alone." I ask mirroring the same fake smile as her's. "Yes, of course. Jesus do you mind waiting a moment outside."
Once the door shuts I get prepared to bring out the bitchy, queen bee side in me and take a sit in one of the two chairs in front of her desk. Honestly I'd say it's all an act but I need to protect my self and my plan.
"Sarah, Can I call you Sarah?"
"Well I don-"
"I'm not going to tutor Jesus."
"Lexy, I think you might have gotten the wrong impression. I was not asking I was informing you. So we will need to meet up here at the end of the day, the three of use and go over a few things."
"Okay, Sarah." I all I say just before I open the door I stop and turn on my heels and ask "I thought this school had a strict no bullying policy"
"Yes, it does. why do you know of any bullying happening?"
"No, I was just asking. And I hope everything works out." She's about ask what I meant but I walk out of her office.
What I'm about to do is a bit selfish, but I'm looking out for myself. Tutoring Jesus will be a huge mistake. I have a plan, and it doesn't involve me spending all by time with him. He's smart and if we spend time together, he'll figure out what I'm trying to do.
...
And with that we're both standing in the empty hallway.
I don't look at him. I just walk towards my locker. I hear him following me but I don't turn around to look at him. I open my locker and get out by makeup bag. I grab a small mirror and a red lipstick to reaply it. And I can see him in the tiny mirror. And he's right there. Staring at me. So I turn and stare back.
