Turn Off The Light

Have you ever felt like your chest is caving in?

Like there's a hundred pounds weighing it down?

Like you're suffocating underneath it, but you don't even bother to try to get out from under it, because you want it to just finish you off?

Have you ever felt like your heart was tearing itself apart?

Like the rejection you feel from people who were supposed to care is eating away at it?

Like it can't figure out how to stop beating so it tries to end your suffering by dissolving?

Have you ever felt entirely irrelevant?

Like every second you spend breathing is just a waste?

Like no one would notice if you died, but they'd breathe a sigh of relief without realizing that the burden of your life was lifted?

Have you ever told your friend that they are not worthless, only to continuously prove to them that you are?

Have you ever left your friend to sit and fade away?

Have you ever walked away from your friend who wanted to die, just because they offered up a meager "I'm fine?"

Because I'm really not okay. Just keep walking though, don't even glance at me. I hope I don't inconvenience you too much with my existence.
