AN: Hi, so this is my first story I've put up on the internet... Feedback is most appreciated!
Prologue
The two of them were like shadows as they walked on the walls, silencing every guard who happened to see them before they were able to send the alarm, leaving countless guards scattered on the wall as they advanced towards their destination.
When they did reach the watchtower they pulled down their cloaks and breathed out. If everything went as planned they would have at least fifteen minutes before someone would notice that the castle was unmanned. That was quite enough to both find the documents and escape unharmed,
“Let's get started, then,” the man said as he started to search through the drawers. The girl quickly followed his example and scavenged the shelves.
They worked in utter silence until the girl broke it,” I found them.” She pulled on the hood and nodded at the man to do the same. They walked out of the watch tower and eyed their surroundings; no alarm, no guards, all good. But they barely made it to the top of the stairs befora torches were lit all around them and the loud sound of the alarm went.
"Hurry, get down," the girl urged and the two of them hurried down the stairs, not stopping until they had escaped down the stairs and locked the door that led to the courtyard. “It’s only been a few minutes,” the girl exclaimed,” the alarm should not have been sent yet.”
“My brother,” the man answered curtly,” he must’ve alarmed the guards inside the castle.” He looked down on the floor and the girl grasped his hand and pressed it reassuringly.
"He is not gone, he would never let us be rid of him that easily," she said and he smiled at her.
They pressed their ears to the door and listened; they could hear the familiar clatter of swords and armor not far from them. It wouldn't take long for the guards to see the locked door and find them.
"We're gonna have to fight our way out," the man said.
The girl replied with a smile. “Ready?” she asked as she drew her sword.
“Ready,” he said as he drew his.
Just as they were about to burst out the room, a voice stopped them. "Already forgotten, am I, eh?"
"What happened?" His brother demanded.
"Well, this guy back home betted I never would be able to get a hold on a couple of dungeon keys, I betted against him. Saw a guard, thought 'what the hell'?"
"You are joking, right?" She was about to say something more but sighed instead. "We do not have time for this right now... are you ready?"
He drew his sword and together the three of them emerged into a fight the most likely would lose.
