One Direction is a British boy band put together on the British XFactor. They had all auditioned separately and made it past auditions, but got kicked off on boot camp week. They were called back on stage at the last minute, where the judges told them that they would keep them in the competition, but only as a group act. They ended up getting 3rd place and are still running strong, even with the leave of Zayn Malik.
