KAYDN POV:
I lie rigid in my bed, staring at the capitol sunrise, trying to bring my mind back to me. I've had another nightmare, the same as last nights. I know I screamed, thrashed around probably swore too, but no-one has come running to my aid. Their used to it by now, after having 4 years of it. I dream that my mother never left District 4 after meeting my father, a member of the Capitol's inner circle, that she never became a stylist. Instead, I dream that my mother marries a fisherman and has me and my sisters who, when we turn 12, are placed into the reaping. My sister Marvelle is reaped, I volunteer and I die. I know Marvelle has similar dreams, but she never describes them. Last night i was killed in the final 8, by a spear to the stomach. Tonight, I am stung to death by Tracker Jackers. I shiver, close my eyes and fall into a dreamless sleep.

I wake, to the sound of my father Goyle, pounding on the door. "KAYDN GET UP!" he shouts. He does that quite a lot when the Hunger Games come round, anyway. "Alright, I'm up Dad" I reply. I hear him walk downstairs and listen to my mother fuss over his uniform. I place my feet on the carpeted floor and walk over to my wardrobe. My father, born in the Capitol, says I dress like I'm from the districts. I tell him I technically am, as my mother was born in district 4. He just stares at me. I don't wear wigs or 6 inch heels or cake my face with makeup, but he insists that I wear shoes with a small heel and colour my hair so its a win-win situation. I dress in a pastel orange shirt with sleeves that go to my elbows and a red pencil skirt with blue lace up heels. I put on some blue and gold bracelets and a gold pendant. I place a headband with a gold flower on it on my head and apply minimal make up. I walk downstairs and observe 3 things. 1) What everyone is wearing, 2) What is for breakfast and 3) My sisters happy expression. Edris is always happy, she has the most capitol in her, but Marevlle, she doesn't like the Hunger Games, mainly because they have a habit of showing the most gory deaths on replay. But today she is happy, so I wonder whats up. "OH! Kaydn dear, we thought you weren't getting up today!" I look over at my mother, who sports a bright pink dress with a heavy gold necklace and a deep v-line outlined in gold glitter. She has light pink makeup on with some baby blue accents in her hair. "Well, I wouldn't want to miss the first reaping would I?" I say in response. "Of course you wouldn't Kay" I hear my sister Edris tease. I laugh and look at her, dressed almost exactly the same as my mother, only her dress is blue and she has pink accents in her hair. I notice Marvelle has been very quiet this morning. Looking around I notice she isn't at the table. "Where's Marv?" I ask, looking at mother. "She's still getting ready, I'm taking her to the train station to see the tributes when they arrive" my father says. He does this every year until we turn 15. I know my sister is going with my mother to the tribute center, as she applied to be an assistant stylist last year, but only got accepted this year. She'll be working with my mother and District 11. I sit down and wait for Marv to come downstairs.
