I breath heavily, my mind in a haze as I frantically search for a building. The bitter breeze biting at my arms I spot a secluded coffee shop at the corner of the road. Without another thought I jog towards the doors and burst through the doors causing the cashier's gaze to instantly turn to me.
"Hello! Welcome to Dennis coffee shop how may I help you?" The boy greets me cheerfully obviously not noticing my panic.
"I want you to take me somewhere safe." I reply with a cold tone.
I didn't have time for pleasantries, I really needed to get out of here.
"Oh I'm sorry I don't quite understand." The boy replied, a puzzled expression printed on his face.
"Look I made some people very angry and I need to get the fuck out of here before I'm killed and left for the strays that live on the streets." I explain, getting impatient.
"I'll take you somewhere then..." He replied.
"Yes!" I yell out.
"On one condition." This intrigues me.
"What's the condition then blondie?" I ask,
"You have to stay with me at my apartment." He replies, a smug look on his face.
"What?? There's no way I can do that my mum needs me." I explain frantically, already dreading being away from mum.
"You can still go see her as much as you like but I've been looking for a roommate anyways." The boy reasons, looking oddly pleased with himself.
A loud bang stops me from complaining and I immediately step away from the door.
"Okay, we need to get out of here now so I'll agree to your term." I say earning an ecstatic reply from the boy.
I hear loud voices obviously annoyed and wanting my head.
"Run now!" I yell.
The both of us run through the cafe and head out the back door into the streets.
"How far is it?" I ask.
"Not too far don't worry." He replies and we start to run again.
Soon after we end up at a apartment complex further into town.
"This is where I live."
I follow the boy to the elevator and go through ideas in my head. Soon the elevator dings and we both step and I continue to follow through the halls. We stop and a door with the number 201 on the top and the boy pulls out a key to unlock what appears to be his door. The apartment is quite big and has a really nice cinnamon scent that drifts into my nostrils.
"Before I let you live here I need something off you." I hear the voice behind me say.
"And what might that be?"
"Your name."
I had completely forgotten about the fact we were complete strangers until now.
"I'm Troye." I say, looking at the other boy for his name.
"I'm Connor Franta." Connor says, with a smile before heading to the kitchen.
I swear I'd heard that name before. Probably just nostalgia or some shit.
"You want coffee?" Connor asks, grabbing milk from the fridge.
"Yeah, that'd be nice thanks." I sigh in relief as I re-evaluate my situation.
"Thank you Connor. For letting me stay here." I mutter quietly.
"No problem Troye!"
And with that we sit in silence.
