When I woke up I was in my room. I stared up at the familiar grey paint on the ceiling. "Go tell her mother she's awake." I heard someone whisper by my door. I turned my head to see Draco standing there watching me. He walked over to my bed and sat down on the edge. "What happened?" I asked him as I slowly sat up. "You passed out on me in the Forbidden Forest. The doctor said you had a panic attack. I have no idea what that is but he is certain that's what happened." Draco explained. I thought back to the last thing I remembered. I remember running. We were running out of the school. Harry chased after us. Well, he chased after Snape. After that I have no clue what happened.
My so called mother and father came threw the door to check on me. Draco stood and went to the foot of my bed. My mother sat in his place. She grabbed my hand and held it softly. She was always the nicest out of this family. "How are you feeling?" She asked softly rubbing her hand over mine. "I'm a little dizzy but other than that I'm fine." I spoke quietly. I kept my eyes on mine and my mother's hands. "I want you to return to Hogwarts for the next school year. Draco will not be attending but I need to keep a close eye on you." My father spoke without a care of how I felt. "Yes sir" I whispered still looking down at my hands.
I was in the train walking past the compartments trying to find somewhere to sit. I came across one of the opened cars with chairs and tables through the room. "Abby" I heard the familiar Voice of Neville Longbottom. I turned my head slightly to see him sitting at one of the tables with Ginny and Luna. He waved me over to them. I happily obliged and sat next to him in the booth. "How was your summer?" Ginny asked with a smile. "Long, complicated, and full of death eaters." I grumbled as I relaxed in the seat. "You were there that night weren't you?" Luna asked as she peered out the window. I sighed not wanting to tell them but I decided to anyway. "Sadly, yes, I was there. I had to be there. It was absolutely awful." I looked down at my hands feeling horrible for what I was a part of. Even though it wasn't my choice I was still apart of it. As I looked down at my hands I saw Neville's hand leave his lap and intertwine with mine. I smiled at the sight of it.
We were already over halfway to Hogwarts and I was now sitting by the window with Neville by the aisle. Our hands were still locked together. I looked up at the sound of the compartment door opening. It was two death eaters. I recognized them but I didn't know their names. Neville stood up suddenly making me turn my head to look at him. "Hey, losers, he isn't here." He said with the most confidence I had ever heard him use. The death eaters scowled at him then turned and left. When he sat back down I couldn't help but laugh. "What?" He asked me. "Hey losers? Really?" I somehow asked through my laughter. "Shut up" he laughed wrapping his fingers around mine again.
Once we got to Hogwarts I could tell right away that it had changed. Aside from Snape being headmaster now there was death eaters every where. No wonder my father wanted me to come back. He would know every little thing I was doing now. I walked with Neville, Luna, and Ginny to the carriage that waited for us. Sheamus and Dean were already sitting there waiting for it to move. We hoped on and joined them. "Guys, I wanted to let you know that no matter what I say or do I don't mean it. I'm going to be doing a lot of acting this year." I said as I looked around to see more and more death eaters as we got closer to the school. "We know" Ginny said with a smile. I looked to the others and watched them all nod in agreement with her.
Slytherins were still in their previous dorms but everyone else was put into one area together. I only knew this because the others told me. I would like to be with them. I hate everyone in my house. The classes weren't the same either. Our Dark Arts class was the worst. Our new professor was a death eater who liked us to learn and practice the illegal and unforgivable curses.
A few weeks into the school year I was with Neville in one of the corridors between class. Amycus Carrow came around the corner and stopped when he saw us. "Well, if it isn't Longbottom. I've been looking for you." He said with a sinister smile. He walked over to us swiftly. He grabbed Neville's arm and pulled him to his feet. "What is this about?" I asked standing from my seat. Amycus shrugged before replying with "because I'm bored." I followed him as he pulled Neville behind him and into an empty room. "Amycus, you can't just punish someone because your bored." I scolded as I entered the room behind them. The door slammed shut behind me making me jump. He threw Neville to the floor and turned towards me. "Abigail Dright, you need to start acting like your name. A Dright would never defend the likes of him." Amycus was looking at me with disgust. It was a look I was becoming use to.
"I am different from my family. Even they know that. I don't cause physical harm to those who don't deserve it." I spat back at him. He was in front of me in a blink of an eye. He grabbed my arm and drug me over to stand in front of Neville. "Now, here are your options. Either you help me punish Longbottom here or you snog me." He whispered in my ear. I could tell it was loud enough for Neville to hear because I watched his expression quickly change from worried to enraged. "No" Neville mouthed at me. I closed my eyes to think over my options. So I can cause physical harm to Neville or I can snog this idiot. Both are awful and both will cause Neville pain. Which one can I forgive myself for doing? If I can forgive myself then I know Neville can too.
I turned to face Amycus which seemed to take him by surprise. "Abby please don't" Neville begged from behind me. "I'm sorry Neville" I said softly as I grabbed Amycus' robe. He smiled at me knowing what I was about to do. I groaned to myself then quickly pressed my lips against his. He wrapped his arms around me and held me tightly against him. He kissed me back fiercely. I wanted nothing more than to pull away from him but I couldn't yet. He kept kissing me and I kept kissing him. I let it continue on for a few minutes before I pushed myself away from him. He stumbled back from the unexpected force. "There" I said turning back to Neville.
He was sitting on his knees with his head down and eyes closed. "Neville" I said bending down and placing my hand on his shoulder. He looked up slowly until his eyes met mine. I could see the pain I had caused him. "I'm sorry Neville" I whispered not knowing anything else to say. I heard Amycus walk closer. I grabbed Neville's arm and helped him to his feet. I turned to face him with Neville behind me. "Don't you dare. You've had your fun." I practically growled at him. "You won't do a thing." He smirked at me. I pulled out my wand and pointed it at him. "Do you want to try me Carrow? I told you I don't cause pain unless the person deserves it. You deserve more than a punishment." I spat as Neville and I backed out of the room. "You can join the others in their sleeping quarters. You are not to be trust." He was the one to growl this time. "That's fine by me" I glanced behind me to watch Neville leave the room. I turned and quickly ran out following Neville at his heels.
