"To love and to lose is better than to never of loved at all."

Jaclynn's POV
Panic! At The Disco blasted through my earbuds as we drove down the long stretch of highway. I don't know how long we've been driving but it feels like days. Mom says we should be in West Virginia by tomorrow. I just hope it's not as boring as it sounds. I looked it up on google and it just looks like a bunch of rednecks and farmers. I wasn't going to fit in. Not like I fit in anywhere. I was trying to imagine life in a small town when I felt a hand shake me out of my thoughts. Mom looked like death , she wasn't young and vibrant anymore. She has lost the love of her life and you could tell. She looked at me with aggravation and said " I know you don't want to move but we need this Jay" I was taken back by the nickname. Mom hadn't called me that in months. "I know Mom , but West Virginia? What's moving to a small town going to do for us?'' Mom wasn't pleased but we needed gas. "This conversation isn't over , we'll talk more in a little bit." I rolled my eyes as she left the car. I tried my hardest to not think about everything we left behind but it all hit me hard. Every memory with dad I made in California was gone. I was never going to revisit them like I could. They were gone now and I couldn't do anything about it.
-----------

I guess I must have fallen asleep once we hit the road. I woke up to a giant bridge in front of us. We were in Ohio crossing over to "Wild and Wonderful" West Virginia. Yay , the nightmare begins. I must admit this place is gorgeous. It may not be as bad as I thought. As long as we had McDonald's near us I was slightly ok. Mom said that we'd be moving to a little town right outside Charleston. I can't remember the name but I'm sure it's boring too. We drove a couple hours longer until we turned off the interstate. We grabbed someone Subway and snacks. Once we left the restaurant / gas station we only traveled for about 15 minutes longer. The house wasn't big , we didn't need a big house. There was only two people going to be living here. I grabbed a couple of bags from the trunk when I heard mom say "You go pick out your room. The rest of our stuff should be here tomorrow or the next day." I walked up the driveway to the steps. Once I was inside I was slightly surprised. The house was a cute little 3 bedroom , two bath. At least that's what mom had said. I followed the hallway past the kitchen and living room to the first bedroom. It looked nice so I claimed it and set my stuff inside. I walked back outside to help mom carry more bags. "We'll order in some dinner tonight then tomorrow I can shop for food while you get school supplies." I nodded in agreement before grabbing the last of the bags and shutting the trunk. There was one thing I absolutely knew for sure , I wasn't ready to start school.
