Alex woke up with a splitting headache. She looked to see where she was. She didn't remember anything. When she discovered she was in bed with Damon, she knew something must've happened. She stumbled out of bed.
"You get really into competitions," Damon said from behind her in bed.
Alex spun around to face him. "What, uh, what happened last night?" She didn't remember much, just bits and pieces.
He laughed, laid back down in bed, and folded his arms above his head.
"Shit," she cursed. "I'm never doing that again. I feel so sick." She went into his bathroom and threw up in the toilet.
Damon came in and leaned in the doorway. He still had his shirt off, but changed into sweatpants. "Come on, you need something to eat and drink."
She threw up one last time before getting up and following him into the kitchen.
"Everyone's asleep so we have to be quiet," he whispered. He handed her a glass of water and a box of crackers. "Sorry, we don't really have food in the house."
"That's understandable, thanks anyway." She drank some of the water. "So do you–do you remember anything from last night?" she stuttered.
"Well, do you want me to tell you the truth or lie to you?"
"Oh, gosh," she put her head in her hands. "If it's really bad, lie to me."
"You said you love me."
Alex sat up in my seat. "That's a lie." She knew that was something she wouldn’t say. It had to be false.
"No, you're exact words were 'I never want to admit it, but I love you'." Damon liked messing with her. He liked seeing her flustered.
Alex ate some crackers. "Fantastic."
"So you're not going to deny it."
"It's not worth denying, because you won't believe me." She walked over to him and took the amulet from his neck. "Now, we have to figure out how to cut this into small pieces."
"Give it to me," he tried to take it out of her hands. "I'll do it."
"How?"
"I'm going to cut it with an electric blade thing we have in the garage."
The blade had worked, and they experiment as to how small we could cut it and still have it work. They got twenty necklaces out of the stone.
Alex put one of the bigger pieces around Damon's neck.
"It works," he said. "It doesn't feel as strong as the large one, but it works."
"Good," I nodded. "So how many vampires are in your pack?"
"We started off with twenty-five, and now we're down to sixteen."
"That leaves four necklaces left."
"Give me two of the extras and you have the other two."
"There's so many other vampires out there," she softly said. "I wish we could help them all."
"Not all of them want to change like us."
"Someday I'll find a cure for it, I promise." Alex felt like she needed to help them. It felt so rewarding to help people.
"So should we hand out the necklaces or wait?"
"Wait." If they handed them out now and and another vampire was killed, then they might lose one of the few necklaces they had.
