"You should watch where you're going, new girl. Most people aren't so nice around here." He said looking down at me, his eyes flickering to the schedule I clutched in my hands. I nodded quickly, not trusting my voice if I was to try and speak. He smiled slightly before stepping back out of my bubble, and I could finally focus my thoughts again.
"I'm Zakk Knight. What's your name, new girl?" He asked.
"I'm April Jenkins, but call me A.J. Nice to meet you." I prayed he wouldn't call me April, that's the name my parents gave me and I hated it. Zakk nodded back before he gestured to my schedule, asking to see it; I handed him my schedule.
"Hm, easy classes, you look like a 'all A's' kinda student, why aren't you taking A.P classes or anything?" He looked genuinely curious.
"I already have all the credits I need to graduate, I actually have a couple more than I need so they threw me in easy classes to make the rest of the year go by okay for me. I don't mean to brag, I'm sorry." I didn't want him thinking I'm conceited, or a smarty pants, it's just at my old school you got twice the credits because the classes were twice as hard as A.P classes.
"No need to apologize darlin'. You're fine. Now, off to art, are we? Come on, we have all our classes together, so I'll show you around." He grabbed my bag that had fallen on the ground and threw it on his back, refusing to give it to me. I sighed, I made a new friend with eyes that I love. Today's gonna be a long day.

As my last class slowly ended, I breathed a sigh of relief, I didn't know how much longer I could take the looks and the whispers. I know most of it is because I'm the new girl, but some of it is because Zakk hasn't left me alone all day. He wasn't kidding when he said we have every class together, we do, and in every class he insists that I sit beside him or he sit beside me. It's like he's scaring away everyone I could potentially becomes friends with on purpose. He tried to introduce me to his friends but as soon as I heard a cat call from one of them, I turned on my feet and walked away. I heard him telling the guy that he needs to cut the crap and all that jazz before he ran after me. I didn't take him as the type of guy to stick to one girl the entire day. I didn't mean to sound stereotypical, but he looks and kinda acts like a playboy, like he doesn't have one girl, he has a bunch on the side. I keep waiting for him to go off with some other girl instead of me, but he doesn't.
"Hey, April. Earth to April?" Zakk was waving his hand in front of my face as I was zoning out waiting to be dismissed. I realized everyone else was gone so the bell must've rung; I quickly grabbed my stuff, ignoring Zakk so I could just go home and paint. I grabbed my keys out of my bag as I walked, and when I finally got outside I saw that there were only two cars left in the student parking lot. I didn't realize Zakk was still behind me until he whistled low and told me that he loved my car.
"How is it that a 17 year-old girl like you, has a 2015 Nissan GT-R?" I scoffed at the biased comment but smiled when I saw him ogling over it.
"It's a 3.8L V6 Cylinder, twin-turbo, all wheel drive 6 speed automatic, and it has 545 horsepower at 6400 rpm." I stated as he walked around the only thing I have ever bought with my parents money. This car is my pride and joy and I love it. I walked to the driver's side and unlocked the door; I threw my stuff in the back and before I stepped in, Zakk stopped me.
"What?"
"You-you uh, know things about cars?" He stuttered looking like his mind was just blown. I nodded my head.
"Yea, I grew up with a guy that worked in a garage all the time, I'm a licensed mechanic." I climbed into my car after that and started her up, and yes, I have even given her a name, it's Ani. I quickly sped out of the parking lot, not even sparing a glance at Zakk as I headed to the place I dreaded the most, home.
